Trek's new C3 project seems to be doing something right, as its two freeriders just took home first and second place in the Speed and Style at Sea Otter. The Laguna Seca race track/jump set played host to some of the world's best, and Whistler's Brandon Semenuk proved to have the best combination of the two required elements. Just behind him was the ever-entertaining Cam McCaul, who showed no signs of slowing down despite having his season cut short last year because of a broken femur.

In the finals, Semenuk and McCaul battled it out on the identical courses, with Brandon coming out well ahead in both categories. His first jump was a picture-perfect 360 tailwhip, and destroying the pumptrack section he threw a tailwhip to solidify the win over McCaul. Sliding into third place was the Blackboxlabs rider from France, Pierre Ferry, and in fourth was Minden, NV native Paul Basigoitia.

It is evident that Brandon has come into this year focused and ready to go. Provided he stays healthy, he will be hard to keep off the podium, if not the top step, at every slopestyle event.
