Currently have a 06' 170mm 66 RC2X. Going to ride lift assisted DH @ Northstar this season. Was thinking about a DC fork w/ a low a-c height. The Sherman Slider Plus (170mm/ SPV) has a similar a-c height of my 66. Would it be worth looking into the Slider ? Is the 66 better even though it is a single crown ? Thanx

My slider kicked ass, but I don't think you'd really gain anything by switching to one from a 66... Plus, SPV is the work of the Devil.

The past two seasons I spent @ Northstar were on DC forks - a Shiver and a Super T. I know the 66 is a capable fork but maybe it is just a mental thing it being a single crown ??? The 888 is too tall.

I was under the impression the 66 had the same A-C height as a 888.

The 06' 66RC2X has a 558mm a-c, the 06' + 888 has a 575mm a-c.
555mm actually for the 170mm travel 06 "66s".

Exact same axle-to-crown for the amount of travel as the fox 36 series (545mm for 160mm of travel).

{QUOTE}... the 66 has 7" of travel and the 888 has 8".

And the point to these statments ?

Can't go wrong with Marzocchi. I loved my Z1, and adore, my new 888. If a 66 is what you want get it. I would suggest stepping up to the 888, and getting another inch.

I already have the 66. The 888 is a tad too tall for my bike.
