So, in my search for a new crankset, I got a new Shimano Octalink, and let me tell you, for aproximately 60 bucks (including a new bottom bracket for around 15 bucks) it runs awesome, and even though in the last few gears, 6 and 7th it has a hard ride, it's still pretty cool. It's been better than I expected it to be, really good quality, all I need is to check how will it take a downhill ride. I've just tested it a few times in the street, since I had it installed a week or so ago, but at least it lasted longer thank my old bottom bracket (NEVER USE A SQUARE TAPERED BOTTOM BRACKET!). Anyway, any other opinions about it?

Arms are a really soft alloy. It'll ream out sooner or later. Newer 2 piece designs make octalink look like square tapers. Much wider spline interface, bigger bearings too.

never get the wrong BB just a word of warning seen that far too many times from people who love octalink.

Its a rocking system though probably the best 3 piece going or ever went.
