Does anybody have any idea what part this number refers to:
FD-M739-ET6
I think it's an XT E-type front mech(not the current one,thats FD-M750-E.),maybe the previous version???
Want to know cos they're on sale
here dirt cheep.

The FD-M739E is a 1997 XT E-type front derailleur. I'm not sure what the "T6" means.

Thanks BikeGeek.So,if it's a '97 mech it should work with a compact drive chainset (22,32,42) right?

Yup. That's what I'm running. I'm not sure if there will be any 8-speed vs. 9-speed issues though. I'm running 8.
