‎12 years ago we adopted a fat little Husky pup from a friends dogs litter. He traveled the world with us, from Washington to Germany, to California and back to Germany. He stepped paw by my count, in 7 countries and 10 states... along the way he killed cats, rabbits, chickens (Which I paid for...) and birds, went nose to nose with horses, zebras, wildschwein, rattlesnakes, hog nose snakes, llamas and babes in bikinis (Gotta love Malibu...).

    2008_09010016.JPG

He protected 2 little babies and was a good pal to a bigger kid. He was a cool and reserved presence in the house, and a lively and curious trail buddy. Friday, his journey came an end...I have lost my hiking buddy and my best, fuzziest pal.

RIP to the best free dog ever, my pal Chacko. I will think of you ever day, and every time I lace up my hikers...and every time I lift my leg to pee on a tree...

I know how you feel. I had to do the same with Annie 2 weeks ago. They are with us for way too short a time. Take it easy and remember all the good times you had together.

    Thanks all-

CB, not yet. We have his "sister" Tasha, a Boxer/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix still. She is so confused, misses him dearly...she hasnt left my side since I got home, it will be few months till we look for a pal for her. But we will...

Sorry to hear that. My Whippet passed away after 16 years just under a year ago; right before I moved to Germany.

A loss of "the dog of your life" is worse than a loss of some of the family members. I hardly got over the loss of mine yet and it has been more than five years now.

    JohnE,
We've never met, yet from your post know that Chacko was a lucky dog that had a fantastic life,
and is now in doggy heaven chasing squirrels & telling tales about having such a great loving family.

    rockfullr, Nice addition.
