does anyone have any info on the solocross racing they are suposedly doing this year? Where is the course at, is it open publically or ony for races? can it be raced on a ht or are there any huge gaps that may require fs?

The races are being called "Giant Slalom". The first one is at the US Open, they'll be more throughout the year. Check out the Diablo Website for more info on races and a map of the mountain. Generally the course has been open whenever the mountain is open for riding, unless they close it for maintenance or wet weather.
A DJ style hardtail or 4x bike is fine for the course, last year it was very smooth with some small tabletops and doubles, and some tight berms. A DH bike is overkill but that's what many people are on when they ride the mountain so ride what you've got.
