What is this voyage that I take in my body
Futile belief that I can
By listening to sages
By seeking lost wisdom
By imbibing potions, burning incense
By prayer
Prolong whatever brief struggle I shall experience
There's no doubt that
By observing
By choosing
By luck
By inherited genetic tangle
I can have some conscious effect but
We all
Are born
Are finite
Are limited
Are incapable of comprehending the larger universe
And when the time comes, we know how to die
Futile belief that I can
By listening to sages
By seeking lost wisdom
By imbibing potions, burning incense
By prayer
Prolong whatever brief struggle I shall experience
There's no doubt that
By observing
By choosing
By luck
By inherited genetic tangle
I can have some conscious effect but
We all
Are born
Are finite
Are limited
Are incapable of comprehending the larger universe
And when the time comes, we know how to die
