Sorry man, that site is getting a major update real soon! Tell my man Kevin to get his act together and get that thing done! (along with the new dw-link site)If you go to the Split Pivot site it doesn't look updated since 2007. It doesn't specifically mention any companies planning on using it. It does state "patent pending". So did DW and Trek come to an agreement whereby ABP marches on and Split Pivot went away or is DW waiting on the patent to be awarded so he can start licensing the design and charging Trek? I did notice that the position of the chainstays and seatstays at the pivot are reversed between ABP & Split Pivot.
What I worked on 1.5 years ago, people are just starting to see now. What I am working on now, riders will see in a year or so. Let me tell you guys, I've been doing a LOT of Split Pivot work over the last year and a half.
Honestly, I probably could have pushed harder on Split Pivot between 2006 and 2009, but I was completely consumed with rebuilding e*thirteen from the ground up. Everything got an overhaul with e*thirteen then. We took on a lot more of our own production in-house, then we completely revamped the back end of the business, and after that I redesigned the entire chain retention product line (that took a whole year), new logos and branding for the company, and a new factory, office, and warehouse to boot. It was just a major time commitment, but I am really glad that I did it. Something had to take a back seat, and unfortunately, that was Split Pivot design work.
That was then though, and this is now. From a patent perspective, the only thing that I'm willing to say is that in my experience, it could not be going better. Things have happened so smoothly and quickly, it's been incredible. (compared to other portfolios that I've dealt with)
You won't have to keep your eyes peeled at all, there are some good things coming down the pipe, I am so stoked about some of the bikes that my Split Pivot family is going to have out there.
Sorry for the lack of infos on the progress, I promise that it will get better in the future!
