Are springs from different maunfacurer's compatible as long as they are the same size? Can I take the 500# spring off my Rock Shox Pro Deluxe and use it to replace the 350# spring currently on my Swinger 6-way? The shocks are both the same size for the same bike ('02 Giant DH Comp. The RS was the stock shock and was replaced with the 6-way, but the 350# spring is too light for my fat a$$).

I would say a spring is a spring. The springs may have different "diameters" though. Different shocks will require different spring weights for a given rider weight and riding style.
In other words, I don't know.
