26 West Mountain Bike Park today announced the addition of Super-D racing to the 2008 North Carolina State DH Champs event. 26 Wests inaugural Super-D race will not be a state title event this year, but riders should not mind because the 5 minute course is certainly state champs worthy.
Beginning on Yo-B, Super-D racers will have to keep the momentum rolling up and over a nice ridge before descending to the village. Approximate course specs: 50 of climbing, 400 of descending; 1 mile length.
Super-D practice will be open Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18 with racing following Saturdays DH event. Register this weekend at 26 West, or on the 17 or 18 before the race.
DH Track Update The 1.5 mile track descends 800 and fast times should be less than 4 minutes. After descending the Village DH, riders will cross the village parking lot and begin a high speed journey into deep woods, navigating Huhs Alley along the way before finishing alongside Wolf Laurel Road. The track will be open for ripping on September 28.
