You are right, sorry. Have been on the road for the last month and have been waiting for the FS. The next big milestone is the actual document of all the environmental work that has been done goes public. It was suppose to be out Oct 1 but has had to go through some last minute tweaks. Should be public soon and when it is will announce.

ONce this is out the offical countdown begins to approval!

Scott im sorry, but seriously? any lift access bike park is going to have bike hangers. no question.
Man shut up...
you know as well as I do, that when your riding all day, that when you get on a lift the last thing you want to do is hold onto your -/+ 40 lb bike and worry about that $5000 bucks slipping away if the lift stops and bounces.

Having bike holders would be a big plus to bring people in, and keep them in. I'm speaking from the average consumer point of view.

For the record, sure, I'd hold my bike if I had to, but odds are I wouldnt want anymore after awhile.

We have not received approval yet but still working on it. Right now everything is pointing that we should be able to open the summer of 2010.

Joel
I will have to stop by and track you down... depending on the freezing level I might be by tomorrow...

If not soon when the lifts open :thumb: I've been a midweek pass holder up there for 8 years now!

I've helped build a few freeride bike trails also so I'm really intrested in this project.

Just out of curiosity, WTF? Is there going to be bikes or not? I can't go to Whistler and the one thing that kept me going through lat years nightmare of a winter was the promise of a bike park 90 minutes from the house. Imagine my dismay when spring came and voila, no bike park. So i say WTF? 6 weeks ago we were supposed to have F.S. approval. AND..... WTF?

chill out dude. I really doubt it is Steven's causing the delay. The one key piece of info here is that the f.s. is part of the government and therefore cannot do anything quickly. just be glad they aren't writing your paycheck or running your healthcare. oh wait...

"Mountain bikes tear up Forest land. I am
against this proposal."

"Bikes should not be allowed in any natural
area or on trails."

"Unless it is limited to existing ski and
snowboard trails, I am adamantly against
mountain biking."

"Mountain biking accelerates erosion, creates
V-shaped ruts, kills small animals and plants
on and next to the trail, drives wildlife and
other trail users out of the area and teaches
kids that the rough treatment of nature is ok."

....yet not one mention of salamanders!

Overall I think a bike park in washington will be great but I hope no one expects it to be of the same caliber as whistler, or any other resort that doesn't have the ball and chain Forest Service around their ankle. I think these checks and balances can do/have done our recreation good, however the ridiculous amount of time it takes can be frustrating. Good luck Stevens and I'll be there opening day!

Damn I hated it when DNR pulled that BS killing salamanders crap on me and my friends. They threatened to arrest us for riding some trails because we were killing salamaders. The officer said that they would run across the trail and we would run over them. And to be honest, I never remembered seeing any salamanders up there ever (this was at stossel a few years ago).

The US Forest Service has conducted an environmental analysis as required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for proposed projects in the Stevens Pass MDP. These projects include constructing mountain bike trails and a water treatment plant replacement. The Public is encouraged to review and comment on the Environmental Assessment (EA) during a 30-day public comment period. Following the comment period the Forest Service will make a decision on whether or not to approve the ski area's proposal.

The Environmental Assessment (EA) describes the project, the affected environment, and the environmental consequences. The Cover Letter provide instructions on how and by when to comment. In an effort to reduce paper waste, electronic correspondence and media will be used to the extent possible throughout this project.
