friend got two DH bikes ripped off. Eight months later someone was selling on craigslist. He called, and arranged to buy 'em. Called the cops and they all met up. Thieves got handcuffs. Friend got his bikes back.

Another friend had his bmx bike stolen six years ago. High end bike, custom paint job. Last month someone found it in another state and my friend got his bike back for $150.00. Only missing the chain.

I think that since you were paid for your bike. No effort will be applied by the police. However now those folks are on the radar. Unless of course they were already on the radar and your dime was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back. In that case good job! Most thieves are junkies. Nothing worse for a burglar junkie then to be incarcerated....

Perhaps the insurance company should be notified? They have their means how to recover money...
