There is every real possibility that Assad is just blowing up his own people up to discredit the so called "foreign gangs" that would see him overthrown too.

I wouldn't be surprised if more of this keeps happening given the rate at which members of Assad's regime are defecting. You gotta assume that there are at least a few people on the inside feeding info to the FSA.
Turkey maybe? There might still be a little butt-hurt in Ankara over the loss of the Phantom and it's drivers. Frankly I'm surprised cooler heads prevailed on that one.
