Hey Monkeys,

I need a little help here. I want to surprise my honey with a new bike. I plan to buy a DEAN frame and build out kit online. How can I make sure I get the right size frame? He is 5'8"... Then do you think we would be able to trade out the stem (and what else??) to adjust the fit???

I am totally psyched to get this going for him, but it can't be a super expensive FLOP! Thanks for your help!

You're talking about a XC bike right?

For a 5'8" guy, go for a medium frame. These are usually 17" or 18" frames (depending on the measurement standard of the bike manufacturer).

For sure a 16" will be too small and a 19" will be too long. I would say a 17" with a 120 mm stem should fit him very well.

Yeah, you can always play with the stem length, seatpost offset and handlebar rise to get a perfect fit...but it's important to get the right size frame!

I could use a new bike, can I be your honey too?

Check his jeans for inseam measurement. That should give a clandestine way to double check when compared to the listed standover height.
