Jack Byrnes: Greg's in medicine too.
Bob Banks: What field?
Greg Focker: Nursing.
Bob Banks: Ha ha ha ha. No, really, what field are you in?

Does the US refuse or transfer the patients because of a lack of skill on the Doctors part?
ERs have both a capacity and a skill set. For instance, in Oregon an ER will prep a burn victim, but fly them to OHSU in Portland becuase they have a burn center. ERs will stop accepting people when they reach capacity and direct ambulances to other hospitals.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a big fan of the French, but he is french and so is half my family. He is the one sending patients away depending on what Doctors are on call for the night, it has nothing to do with his skill, and everything to do with the skill of the Doctors on call.
It sounds like you bashing him for transferring patients to a hospital that is more adequate for their needs.

Maybe you should ask those who can't afford healthcare in your own country?

You're completely out of touch with the rest of the world (the people without ridiculous haircuts and ugly shirts who live in mcmansions), but you make me shake my head with pity whenever you type something.

I only had time to read one item, about the restaurant owner who waited a couple of hours in the emergency room.

I am not sure this is an American story or a Canadian story. Who has gone into an emergency room and demanded service because "I am a paying customer"?

And tell me how did work for you?

30th and it's free vs 38th and i have to pay a fortune.
I'll take the 30th. I bet if we were "socialized" medicine the amount we would pay in taxes would be less than the premiums we are all paying now. I hate the long wait argument as well, the ER here is a min. 5 hour wait. You better have blood spraying on the floor if you want service

How long are your waits for MRI's, specialists, and surgeries?

That's what i'd like to know. Who are the 37 in front of US? Most likely scandanavian and smaller EU countries, and profitable Asian countries(i.e. Japan), but who else?
Hmmm, possibly also countries without (literally) massive fatass populations? That could play a role in dragging down our healthcare system...inundating it with otherwise preventable health issues stemming from lard overload. Especially among the populations least able to pay for their own healthcare. Feed the poor with McD's...fantastic way to do it.

Its subjective, and costs are as well. We did a study in Oregon that looked at procedures, including severity, and the cost at different hospitals for the procedure....you would be shocked at the variance. One procedure might cost $10k at a hospital in Salem, OR and $40k at a hospital in Portland....same damn procedure. We posted it on the web, I'm trying to find the link...its interesting to look at.

For an MRI? Seems odd that people drive down to Bozeman to get them done...
fwiw, the wait time for non-critical MRI on outpatients here at UW is over a week in many cases...
