Interesting. How tall are you? I've found that riding some really steep trails (which I imagine is basically all you ride) that higher bars are a godsend. Might just be a height thing and maybe yours are proportionally right. I'd assume you've tried running your bars a lot higher. Can you just not corner as well?
Yeah, exactly. I can't corner as good if I go any higher. I have 23cm of stantion showing on a 40 and I am 6'1".

I look at it like a lever with respect to hands, feet and rear axle. For DH I want to be able to pick up the front end if I need to but not so easily it loops out. For a FR/slope bike I set up the lever differently. In my mind I call it the "bunny hop ratio" and it gets dialed in for each bike and style of riding.
