i have been looking at transition doubles, and i was curious to see what people thought about putting a 55 ata on it. it is air travel adjust down to 125mm compared to the dj that is 100mm. I personally don't think that the extra 25mm will make a huge difference plus i would get more adjustability. I've never had a fork tho that is travel adjustable like that. would it be bad to run it all the way down all of the time?

i put a talas 36 on it and use the travel adjust all the time. 100 for dj/urban, 130 for trail and 160 for fr.
Sorry but I beg to differ. I actually was in the same perdicament and e'mailed Trans. They said the Double was designed around a 100mm fork. So 160 would SERIOUSLY srew up the geo and put unwanted stress on the HT. Stick with what it was made for, 100mm.

i agree that 160 is a tard idea. I am asking about making it go down to 125mm and leaving it there. not 130, not 160, just 125. i want to know if that 25mm diff will screw shenanigans up. I have a dj i could put on if i so choose, i was just looking at the ata at 4.8 lbs and my dj 3 at 6+lbs and wondering if the adjustment capabilities as well as the weight benefit would be worth the potential problems of a 25mm gain in height.

Go find urself a 32 Talas. I got mine for 250 and it works great, adjusts from 90-130. I've got it on my Tazer and abuse it regularly, seems to be holding up great.

i've seen a good rider killing it on a 5" fork on a double and freerding like a beast in oregon. maybe not "the best" option, but it worked fine for him and he seemed to be happy with the setup.

Stick with something around 100mm any thing to much taller will rake out the head angle and raise the BB which defeats the purpose of having a low steep bike.
