$7 on each ticket then $1.75 to have an e-mail sent to me as a ticket.

Ticketmaster is such a rip off, but you really don't have any choice but to patronize them...Tenille and I are going to Social D on Monday night in SF and our $25 tickets turned out to be about $35. Bastards.
Yeah this is for Matthew Sweet. This is such a monopoly. I didn't even pay squat for my airline tix to be sent to me via e-mail.

When I ordered tickets to a couple of Baltimore Orioles games this past season, there was no surcharge for having the tix e-mailed. There was a $3 service charge per order no matter how many tickets you bought, which isn't bad.

$7 per ticket?? That's rediculous.

well, they will cuntinue to do this because people will cuntinue to pay.

"oh, I really really want to see mathew wuss rock.....I guess I'll pay..:("

stop going to the shows and they be forced to drop the BS.

remember when CD's cost 20 bucks and had two good songs? then the technology to get the same quality of recording allowed people to stop buying and the companys had to drop the prices.

same thing. either figure out a way to copy/clone your favorite singers, stop paying to see them or bend over and take it.

:D :oink:

yeah I just paid $54 for 2 $20 tickets and have them e-mailed to me. I was a little off on the total price but man how can they get away with this....

haha...hahahahahahahaha! Let me guess...you can take a peek at your balls if you go with Aubrey (that right? or is it Audrey?) to see Matthew Sweet?

And yeah it is a monopoly...they say you can go to the venue box office to buy them, but the last thing I want to do is drive to the city in the traffic, park for 10 bucks and get hounded by panhandlers to buy my tickets. It IS convenient having the tix emailed, but that convenience fee is outrageous. There was one show, I THINK it mighta been Ozzfest where the convenience fee was 12 bucks a ticket...unbelievable.

last show I went to I had to pay that stupid fee for an email, print out the tics which are barcoded and were suppose to be scaned at the door, but they were not - I should have printed/sold a bunch of them as standing room only and made money to go see the show

I would mostly be mad about that $27 average price for Matthew Sweet period. I am overly content with 1 cd. You should be too, bro.

The baseball tickets I got were .pdf files and had a barcode on them. You just print the document and it gets scanned at the park.

about devendra banhart? six organs of admittance? or giant sand? google will turn up hits on all 3. good stuff; i've seen giant sand about 12 times though, and 6 organs only once, so i'll make that the 1st option.

nice! had to dig for that...i have no idea who ned sutton and the rabbits are, or where spearfish ND is.

nah, giant sand is howe gelb, and he's a true man to his vision. if you ever heard of calexico, joey and john were howe's rhythm section for a long time. good stuff.

here's devendra, looking eeriely like a south american vincent gallo:

don't worry dhg, giant sand and 6 organs are all usa (although howe lived in aarhus DK for a while); not totally sure about mr banhart but i think he's from peru or something. i actually don't dig irish music all that much.

That guy looks more like a young charles manson.

You mean to tell me you don't like U2 and the Irish Rovers? That Unicorn Song is something else!

well, he kinda sounds like a freak too...got a high voice and unusual guitar style. i've got some cued up right now.

U2 was good in the day, but i lost track after _rattle and hum_. other irish bands gracing my collection are elvis costello, van morrison, thin lizzy, therapy?, and i guess nurse with wound because stephen stapleton lives in co. clare now. other than elvis costello, i was never a huge fan of any of them. oh, stiff little fingers are cool. almost forgot about them. and i like what i've heard from ash.

but why hurt touring bands because of TM? really, a lot of bands eke out a meager existence just from touring and cd/shirt sales they get. it's a no-win situation really. the only way around this is to get tickets directly from the club, but for larger places or popular shows, you risk a sellout and not seeing them at all. and if the show sells out, then TM will continue along like they are now.

what does george bush say about this pressing domestic concern?

I hear ya on U2...I had no idea that Elvis Costello was from Ireland...and you didn't comment on the Irish Rovers...don't you remember that song the Unicorn Song...it goes like this:

There were green alligators, and long necked geese...
Some humpty back camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants (some Irish gibberish here)
But don't your forget my unicorn...

Ring any bells?

no no no,

it goes
On the first part of the journey
I was looking at all the life
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound

I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed
And the story it told of a river that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead

You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

After nine days I let the horse run free
'Cause the desert had turned to sea
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
there was sand and hills and rings
The ocean is a desert with it's life underground
And a perfect disguise above
Under the cities lies a heart made of ground
But the humans will give no love

You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

Oh maybe you mean this one

Puff, the magic dragon, lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honalee.
Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Puff
And brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff, oh

Puff, the magic dragon, lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honalee.
Puff, the magic dragon, lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honalee.

Together they would travel on boat with billowed sail
Jackie kept a lookout perched on Puff's gigantic tail
Noble kings and princes would bow whene'er they came
Pirate ships would lower their flags when Puff roared out his name, oh

I found the lyrics!!! Damn, I was good with the lyrics...the part that I said was Irish gibberish, was not Irish gibberish...it was mearly the words 'as sure as you're born...' sang in a heavy Irish brogue...my apologies to the Irish Rovers and all Irish people alike...

A long time ago, when the Earth was green
There was more kinds of animals than you've ever seen
They'd run around free while the Earth was being born
And the loveliest of all was the unicorn

There was green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
The loveliest of all was the unicorn

The Lord seen some sinning and it gave Him pain
And He says, "Stand back, I'm going to make it rain"
He says, "Hey Noah, I'll tell you what to do
Build me a floating zoo,
and take some of those...

Green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
Don't you forget My unicorns

Old Noah was there to answer the call
He finished up making the ark just as the rain started to fall
He marched the animals two by two
And he called out as they came through
Hey Lord,

I've got green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord, I'm so forlorn
I just can't find no unicorns"

And Noah looked out through the driving rain
Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games
Kicking and splashing while the rain was falling
Oh, them silly unicorns

There was green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Noah cried, "Close the door because the rain is falling
And we just can't wait for no unicorns"

The ark started moving, it drifted with the tide
The unicorns looked up from the rocks and they cried
And the waters came down and sort of floated them away
That's why you never see unicorns to this very day

You'll see green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
You're never gonna see no unicorns
