Maybe that's what's going on here?Splat, have you been diagnosed by a doctor? I thought I had tinnitus from working around loud machinery, had ear ringing and a bit of hearing loss. A few months ago I started falling down a lot even when I wasn't drinking. Turns out I have Meniere's Disease. Basically too much pressure in the inner ear from fluid build up, causes ringing and loss of balance. I have been able to manage it fairly well by eating a low sodium diet.

i have a high-pitched whine that follows me everywhere i go, and it's most noticeable at night when i'm trying to get to sleep. not sure what can be done about it.

Because I also do have issues with my Nose Nasal Polyps. My Allergist and PCP believe it is from Build up of Nasal Fluids , maybe even from the prolonged use of all the decongestants I use. so I am suppose to go see this Special ENT guy who deals Primary with Allergy related ENT issues.I got tinnitus after an sinus infection/allergies. all my sinuses are still messed up and inflamed, but i'm on a waiting list for surgery (go canada) and once they fix all that i'm hoping it will go away.
If it's not directly from noise damage you might have something similar. have you contacted an ENT?
Whenever i get sick or my sinuses get more inflamed (head cold, etc) it gets a little louder. Might be worth looking into what's going on in your nose.
Good luck, tinnitus is ****ty!
