Is any of this legit? Are they truly denying entrance?

Travel to Canada Entrance Advisory

Members are advised to remind customers traveling to Canada of a long standing law that may deny them entrance if they have ever been convicted of a criminal offense. The list of inadmissible classes include those that have been convicted of: 1) a minor offense (including shoplifting, theft, assault, possession of an illegal substance, etc.); 2) an _indictable_ criminal offense (including assault with a deadly weapon, manslaughter; etc.), or 3) Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Read full details.

Yup - it's true for naughty Americans trying to enter Canada and for naughty Canadians trying to go to the United States.

Yea, I've heard that too. You can chance it though, pretty much every time I go into Canada they just look at us or check to make sure we have documentation, they don't actually look us up. Coming back into the states is a different story though...they tend to hassle you. I wonder what they would do though if they saw you had some previous charges and you were trying to get back into the US after they let you into Canada?

and don't forget papers for your dog, if you bring one. I got by without papers a couple times, border didn't see her(I smuggled a dog acroos the border!), then last time they saw her and asked me to show proof of rabies vacine(tags on collar aren't good enough), the vet was closed and my wife wasn't home so I couldn't get it faxed, but they let my dog through anyways, prolly cuz I was with other people.

Depending on the nature of the offence, it may be possible to get a criminal record expunged. Call your local immigration lawyer. They'll be happy to take thousands and thousands of dollars to expunge a shoplifting record...I hope it was something REALLY expensive and worth it...

I've been stopped for an errant grapefruit, a wet passport [don't ask], a torn visa etc while being let through with an out of date passport, a passport marked as 'stolen' etc. That's all passing into the states from canada as a canuck.

That said, I'm clean cut, gainfully employed and I kiss ass at the drop of a hat so I haven't had problems. If yer a bearded long hair with the Alien Workshop on the dashboard...I dunno what yer thinking, boy.

Try lot's of yessirs/nosirs/glad to have a visa to live in the USA sir/yes you do have a nice buzz cut, mr customs guard....I think Adam Corolla calls it 'ass kiss rodeo'....

Or going up north, try lots of yessir/nosir/glad to visit your fine country...try to leave the comments about hockey and Terrence/Phillip back in Puyallup or Fife or you might have to spend your weekend at the Emerald Queen Casino listening to a Journey tribute band rather than at the Cecil watching Ms. Nude Whalley duo with Ms. Nude Athabaska [HOT]

You should expect customs guards to try to 'f' with you...it's their job and probably the most enjoyable part of it. It's either that or having the ability to completely control your life/livelihood by controlling your movement [including bowel movement...they don't have public bathrooms in the immigration wait room]

The next time you go to Canada, Paint your full body in the Detroit Redwings colors (Red and White). Let the Boarder Guard know that your going to watch Detroit teach the Vancouver Canucks how to play Hockey. Then tell them that they should take up Bowling as there National sport, since they haven't beaten an American team since 1993.
Try that, let me know how it goes.

GO REDWINGS!!!!!!
