.....well, all those interested have a bit more info straight from the horse's mouth!!!

Well the Highline is my primary focus. Will this version be at Vegas? I hope so, but I cannot guarantee it. I can tell you this. It does not look like the concept last year.
It will have a 1.5" HT. It will be the only Turner with a 2 position shock bolt effecting geometry and travel. 7" and 8.5" The 7 will work with the new Marzocchi 6" single crown family as well as the Fox 36 and some of the long Manitous. The 8.5 with the big forks with dual crowns. It will have the new 150 spacing in rear with 83mm BB. This really helps make room for the Ft. Deraileur at full travel. Shock of course will be 9.5 x 3 for proper leverage ratio. Seat tube will be full length and in the long travel position be 72 with 66 head angle. In short travel mode it will have a lower BB and steeper and with the ETA on the fork flipped be geometrically snappy to climb on. As for the weight, well look at what riders are pulling today... it will not be a one season frame. It will have a Horst link. It will be a highly thought out but un-exciting design. It is the 12 pound splitting maul of mountain bikes, simple, effective and brutally strong.

Virtually every part of this bike is new. Every machine part, the pivot design, the new Extreme bike drive train parameters, etc. It is NOT a DHR, it is not an old school free rider like the RFX. I have done so much research with this bike sometimes I think I could ride the ' Shore. The reason I am still working on it is research, and the fact that there are 3 other new models in the Turner line for '05. But the Highline will be my focus untill it goes into production sometime in early '05. I can assure you that it will be produced, and it will also be the last of the '05's to get shipped. It will also take a Monster T and whatever you can throw at it. Every year for the last few years riders have pushed the envelope right out the door. Look at Videos in 1999 compared to this year. 5 years have changed the way we look at extreme / stunts and drop riding and what is possible. This is my answer to it and I am being very analytical in it' s creation.

"3 other new models in the Turner line for '05"????

I've seen and heard of the Nitrous which is an incredibly light FS XC bike, possibly replace the Burner? What are the other two? I assume the 5-Spot, DHR and Rail will still be offered in '05.

....the Nitros is the XC race-only FS bike for 05, however, NOT the Burner replacement. DT has confirmed a replacement, but as of yet ther are no details (hinted at a name: Flux). I also have been trying to think of a third NEW frame.....mentioned nowhere...unless he meant that there were three new models total?????

I was actually toying with the idea of having some decals cut of the design...

The XC hardtail maybe? Although I know DT mentioned Turner Suspension Bicycles not selling hardtails...

I have no doubts about the former, but I would have to respectfully disagree with the latter - I for one am VERY excited about this based on the design description. :thumb:

I've heard about all the new bikes, and with that I just have one hope, that he can fully support each lines and doesn't end up having to "cut" one of these lines a year or two down the road. It seems like he's taken a big bite by offering all these different bikes. Hopefully the sales of the 5-spot are what have allowed this to happen, and hopefully the sales continue.

Over your shoulder whispering
I talked to Dave the other day on the phone and he's usually a pretty straight forward no chat type guy. But I asked about how the Highline was coming and he said he was knee deep in it and just got on a roll telling me all the details of it. He covered pretty much everything in the article you posted, even went in depth on the specs they're talkign with Fox, etc. The guy's never even wanted to hang on the phone for long before, but you can tell that thing is his "massif" . How do you say it Acadian?

Anyway, He is super serious about that thing and it was great listening to how involved int he projet he is.

I also hope that no matter how many new bikes they will be releasing, the CS and support will remain the same.

Dear Santa Claus:

I've been very good this year and haven't even run over a hiker, I'm sorry for the ones I've scared. For Chistmas this year I need your help, I need a Turner 5 spot and a Highline. I know this is a lot to ask, but if you can pull some strings ;) Thanks big guy!

Costs, mmmmm to be honest I am not really focusing on price when designing any more frames. The Burner was really the first and at this time the last design I try to do with price as the main objective. You are correct in stating our original goal of making it available at a $1600 price. Well, I doubt that will happen. To spec the best shock and pay for fresh tubing dies etc etc and put the toughest most protected pivot system on the market into it will cost. If I were to put a shock on with only bells and no whistles, and try and use pre existing tooling would jepordize the project's success. It seems to me, and I have sweated the Burner lesson a lot, that a Turner customer expects to have the best when it says "Turner" on the down tube. Best product within it's intended use and catagory. OF COURSE, best is an opinion, but for now best will mean the best job I can do. No compromise.

As for the constantly late industry, I cannot answer for. For Turner Bikes, the other 3 new models and when the Highline is off to fabrication 4 total in a year. Seems to be a good excuse, if not, how about I am A.D.D.! Am I eligible for a grant of something with my "dis-ability" ??

Ummm, I actually know what the new Turner is (inside line) - but I'm really fighting the urge to leak what I know (I'm a pretty loyal Turner bike fan, and want to be high on the list in '05 for a Highline, so no pissing off Casey & DT ;-)

it's cool, and by cool I mean totally sweet!

- that already exists - it's called the 5 Spot! (or the Rail, but I've seen more of Team Honda Turner on XCE's or 5 Spots for 4X then Rails)

I'm gonna hold it back and leave it to Turner to announce...I think the variety that will be available in their '05 line is going to be amazing!

I will have 3 Turners & an Evil (since DT isn't making a steel dj hardtail & I love bikes that say "EVIL" on them) in '05

It's a 6" 5spot called the "6 Pack".

Sounds like an RFX if you ask me.
look at the weight diff between an rfx and a 5-spot, its huge and the "outside" picture doesn't tell the "inside" picture, as far as the tubing thickness used..etc...

a 6" 5 spot will not be an RFX.

Agreed. If there is a 6 Pack I don't think it will be 9 1/4 lbs.

I'm way to lazy to do this, but if you browse through Interbike photos, you should find it. I think Pinkbike has some photos from the Turner booth.

4 New models!!!! Thats pretty hot!

- 5 S will stay unchanged for 05.

- The old RFX is an excellent bike. No need for develoment or testing. Maybe the 6P is some kind of an R66? New tubeset and a 1.5 HT. A lot of 6" forks shows up for 05, so for those who wants a burly trailbike/freerider this might be it.

- Maybe a 4X RACE bike?

- 4 " trailbike (Flux)

I want them all!

So to sum this all up we've got:

1. New XC-Race only Nitrous - Feather-Weight FS
2. Highline (12.5 lb. FR destroyer) sounds cool but way too much for me
3. Burner replacement "Flux"???
4. Something else (possibly a 6" 5-spot?)

These are all in addition to the current line (less the Burner)

5. 5-Spot (can't see not offering this)
6. DHR (this also has to be offered for '05)
7. Rail (has this really sold well?) Don't all pros use a Burner or old XCE frame?

Seven bikes in the line? Either Turner is ready for this or there's another chance of dropping a line or two come post-Interbike (Lucky 7 ring a bell).

No matter, I'll be riding my '01 Avalanche fitted RFX for at least another 5 years. It's actually probably overkill for me and had the 5-Spot been available in '01 I may have gone that direction. Basically I've got an overbuilt 6-Spot and am pumped about all my options coming in '05 for a 6" SC (Z150 is nice but a Porker).
