URT advantages/ RM Pipeline

Big John

"TEAM XXL"
I am looking at buying a Rocky Mountain Pipeline(1999) to freeride with but am concerned about the URT design. What are the advantages and disadvantages to this design for a big guy weighing around 260. I pretty much got out of DH racing but still like to do the runs. Would it stay together? Does anybody have any expeirence with the pipeline? How flexy is it, does it do med stuff alright, etc...? Keep in mind that I am not your average 150# rider. Anybody have any Pipeline pics to post?? Thanks in adavance,

Big John

hi big john

i think an urt is a good idea if you plan to ride long and stay seated for large portions of the ride, otherwise the benefits of suspensions are lost, since the urt tends to stiffen a lot when you stand on the pedals, i dont know the rm design but you can assume the difference between seated and standing is smaller the closer the pivot is to the bb (bcd told me about some other variables but i couldnt quite understand.......)
as long as the main pivot looks solid the bike should handle the load,
