I just got my 2nd Vanilla 125 R fork. They are both 2003's the first one I've beat on since new and this one I got used. I the used one on my steelhead last night and started riding and went to work on endo's. Well everytime I grab a handfull of front brake I hear this loud creaking. Nothing else creaked before this fork went on so I'm positive it's the fork. I did a search and didn't come up with a whole lot. So I was curious as to this being just a sound to expect of if something was wrong.

i had a similar problem with my pike. the crown was loose on the stanchions. i determined this by removing the front wheel and pushing the legs towards each other. it also might be something lower on the fork such as the brake or the bushings. its hard to say what it is. just try ruling out different things till you find the problem.


or have a bike shop take a look
