-26c when I woke up. Supposed to be the last day of this polar vortex. I'll still go ride my bike.

Made our first sourdough starter a couple weeks back, so far, bread, crackers, pancakes were all excellent. Yesterday's Montréal bagels came out flat. Will need to fix that.

Btw, HBD @stosh wherever you may roam.

Yep still cold, but slightly warmer than yesterday.

Ride night tonight, might have to find some of those hand warmer things.

Friggin outlook is still crashing, even after reinstalling office yesterday. :dead:

Checking in for the daily temperature report. Unseasonably cold here with morning temps approximately around the solid transition temperature for water ice at 1 Earth atmosphere.

Yesterday was a dud, a buddy called and asked me to help fall two hazard trees he had on his property so that took half a day the spent the other half driving around looking for a mounting solution.

Finally fell on this, 3k lb turnbuckles, one clevis end and one chain hook end. Clevis end goes to the truck chassis tie down loop in the bed then the chain hook will go through a 2' chunk of angle iron welded onto the rack frame with a tad bit of triangleation just to make all 4 tiedown points more secure. will be over 9k lb of hold down so I dont think that will go anywhere.

now for paint and getting the ramps welded up

Age has caught up to the old doggo, his legs gave out and he fell down the stairs yesterday. Luckily no injuries, but he'll need supervision from here on out. He's 13, so he's had a good run, but the decline has a way of sneaking up on you.

The end isn't here(that we know of, at least), but high blood pressure, kidney decline, and loss of muscle mass all but promise it's not too far off. :(

No dorky poggies I gather. :D
Negative :D

I have a pair of outer shell lobster gloves, that I wear a pair of soft but thin insulating gloves under. But I think the outer shell gloves are too small, as my finger tips end up touching the ends and get cold. I only use these when its really cold.

@Jozz I have a ski question for ya: We want to spend a night somewhere in the Laurentians (Sunday night and ski on Monday - Feb 17th) Looking for something low-key (i.e. not Tremblant or St-Sauveur). It seems that Mont Blanc fits the bill, but wondering if you have any other suggestions...

yeah. want to give the boys a break from nordic ski racing...
Mont Blanc is a good destination. But not much of a village. Have a look at St-Donat, you have two mountains, Garceau (more groomed) and La Réserve (more natural) Small town vibe with lots of amenities and better sceneries.
