I don't know how I missed the Julie Christmas engulfed-in-flames-speeding-out-of-control freight train from a few years ago, but I am making up for it now.

I hits it up; bam, boom, bing, slide
I seep through the crack and I make shit get wide
Bona fide art to start the part of a smart top chart seizure, this more than a leisure
Pinch every fuckin' grain in your brain like a tweezer
The sinister scene shaded the slick scheme theme for the misdemeanor offender
The back bender, the corny nigga, the bullshit riff-ender
Never perpetrating so ain’t no perping in the dark I'm lurking
Gears are working, niggas hurting
Used to be a gambler when I was a scrambler
Now I'm branded a shorty black mic damager, whose just here to state my fact
And react
And saturate brains with a plate of hot wax
Intertwining, combining, underlining, shining Sonny's in light right now and wow, great fuckin' timing

^ Yeah, pretty great. I love that Year of No Light record mentioned. Then again, I love pretty much all the records mentioned, maybe not Pelican because the drummer uses the same roll (if that's a thing) on every song on every record and I couldn't unhear it once someone pointed it out to me.

They can drone a bit. There are a few gems in their catalog. Green Machine & Thong Song from Blues for the Red are pretty good. I can understand your point. It's still good listening at work.
it is the soundtrack for roadtrips and unwinding after work....at least for me.
