Hey all, I'm looking to get a freecoaster to put on a 24" DJ/park bike. It comes with a 9 toof driver and was wondering what chainwheel to use. Right now I rock a 28-12 and want to keep that same ratio. I know about Sheldon's calculator, just want to see what you all are using.

28/12*24=56

closest thing to that with a 9T is 22/9

22/9*24=58.6

it will be a slightly harder gear

see there is a real life use for basic algebra.

x / 9 * 24 = 56

divide both sides of the equation by 24.

x / 9 = 2.33333333

multiply both sides by 9.

x = 21.

The correct answer is 21/9 gearing. It's exactly the same as 28/12. They both divide to be 2.3333333333333.

I don't know of any cool bmx sprockets that are 21. I think you'd be better off getting a 12 cog on your freecoaster, and keep your same setup.

switch it out for the 11t driver. the uber small front chainwheels keep cracking and are not that dependable. i run a 26t e13 micro guide and 11t rear on my 24 bike with the geisha

I was looking at the new KHE reverse freecoaster. I'd like to run a 23-10 if I can switch out the driver.

Get the 11 tooth driver. I'm running a 11t geisha with a 28 tooth chainwheel. it feels similar to a 28/12 set up.
