what was your very first set of wheels? how long did you have it? any weird options? like you had to kick the fender to open the gas door, or "the passenger do was held shut with a rope!", what happend to it did you sell it crash it, drive it off a cliff....

and you you feel like saying so what did you pay for it?

my first car (and my current car) is my orange 1971 VW super beetle.

I paid $500 bucks for it and bought it off a guy who bought it in 82 drove it to school for a few years parked it in his parents garage in 1989 or 1990, got it running again in 2001 drove it for a year or so and I bought it in the summer of 04.

its remarkably rust free, runs awsome and the only weird thing is I need to use a chunk of wood to hold the trunk releace lever in the glove box so I can open the trunk lid (on the front, not the rear engine cover)

also I found out that my beetle was built in wolfsburg on sept 10 1970 and that it was the 900th car built that day.

this was my first ride. 1988 honda prelude. It was fun until I ran it under the bumper of a Mercedes ML320...then turning into a mini van. Man, I suck at driving. Now i've got a 2k3 Toyota Tacoma.

1980 Toyota tercel with fat tires on it. I had a DUAL cassette getto box for a stereo hanging from the ash tray and the detachable speakers in the rear window. I got it free from my Dad with 135k miles and sold it for $200 with 200+k miles. I never had a single problem with that car. After I sold it, the lady drove it for a few years. I cant imagine how many miles it had. It had so many dents from people hitting me, there wasn't a straight body part on it. I never fixed it with the insurance money from the people who hit me. The UPS guy even hit the one side of it and gave me $900 to fix it. Best car and most economical car I ever had.

My first and current car is my 1986 Mercury Cougar "G-Ride". Got some gangsta wheels on it. Passenger door has no door panel on it because i took it off so I could the window down.(Electric motor broken) I paid $165 for it like a year and half ago. All I can say is that its been reliable for the most part, have to put it in neutral everytime i come to a stop or it stalls. As long as it gets me to the races im happy! :)

People love the G-Ride!!!

i learned to drive in a '92 plymouth voyager, but my first real car (really my parents but mine all but legally) was a 1990 nissan 300zx. non-turbo, 5 speed, black outside, black inside, black tint, intake, exhaust, and a decent stereo.

i loved it, the girls loved it, and the mechanic loved it: the left bank variable timing system went out, apparently a not so uncommon problem with the 1990 model, and cost quite the pretty penny to fix since it required a new camshaft, head, timing system, etc.

I'm pimpin' it in my first and only car, a '84 2dr S10 Blazer. Got it from the second owner last fall for $1k that my parents paid for (nice thing about having split parents is they split paying for things too). It's got like 102k miles, or something, the gauge doesn't go to hundred thousands but thats what I'm told it is. 4x4 so maybe one day if I have some money I'll put a lift and turn it into a rock crawler (if I don't get a subie first) but it's a 4spd which isn't the funnest thing on highways since driving 75-85 requires me to hold gas down 3/4 fo the way and run it at 4.5rpms and redline is at 5. :p Oh well, its cool with ghetto plastic interior everything and it holds easily 2-3 bikes in the back.

I learned to drive on my parents 81 chevy citation, my first car was a 90 subaru legacy wagon AWD, that car got me everywhere. worked good until the tranny got a leak and all the fluid leaked out, burned up the tranny. I sold it cuz I had no money to fix it(no job), then a week later I got a job, then I got a 98 tacoma ex cab 4x a week later and is my current vehicle.

My dad likes your truck he has a 1970 GMC half-ton longbox with a 327 (origanly a 307 which the previous owners replaced with a GM replacement 350 in 79. the 350 threw a rod 2 years ago and we found a 327 out of a 68 truck. the tranny is a truck 4-speed (like a 3 speed with a mega low first gear for towing or climbing steep hills)
and a GM posi 12bolt rear end with 4.11 gears.

Brian. a 69 442. sweet! Olds made a classy and having a 442 badge on it makes it all the more sweet

but I cant remember if 442 stood for 400ci,four barrel crab, dual exaust

or if one of the "4"s stod for a 4-sped tranny

88 Dakota single cab long bed with racks for a ladder. **** brown, no a/c, bald tires, cracked radiator. it was my dad's work truck, and as such, the steering wheel was dark brown, almost black, from the dirt.

Close, it's four-barrel carburetor, four speed, dual exhausts.
Here is the 72 Blazer I restored back in 95-96 and when I first got it, I wish I had pics of the top off

85 Ford T-Bird. Worked a crap part time job for several years to pay for it, selling crappy department store bikes no less. I wonder how many purple splatter paint magnas I sold. I drove the old bird until the repair bills cost more than buying another car. That other car was a '87 Cutlas Calais with the Quad 4 engine, got it for $500.

4 cylinder, 94 Chevy Beretta. Drove that for about 8 months until some lady in a new 2003 Jeep decided to take an illegal left turn through some stopped traffic and total it. Promptly bought a 6 cylinder, 92 Beretta with 50k miles on it (55k less than the newer 94). I loved that car!! I will probably buy another one once I get back to the states.

then when I graduated HS in 1986, my dad gave me the title to 1972 Monte Carlo SS that he bought new, it only had 35K miles on when I got it. In 1989, it was totaled when a out of control tractor/trailer crushed in a parking lot. It only had 41K miles on it. What a sad day that was!

1972 VW Superbeetle. I restored it from the ground up with my dad before I had my license. Got my license, drove it for 2 months and got rear-ended and it was totaled. 2 years and $7000 down the crapper. I cried. :(

It looked very simular to this, except with midnight blue metal-flake paint.

Mine was a 1986 Chevy Cavalier. I bought it in 1990 for $3200. I think I got screwed. What a piece of crap that thing was. I drove it until it died. I got $300 trade in when I finally got rid of it, and I was thrilled to get it.

mine was a 76 monte carlo. it was my moms first new car she ever bought. no AC. you had to put the key in the trunk, turn it, and then hit the top of the trunk just right to pop it open. i got in a wreck about a month into my ownership of it, and couldn't open the driver side door anymore. it did have cool seats that swiveled out sideways so that you could let people get in the back. most of the seat belts were non existent because at some point during my childhood one of my friends or i had been trapped and had to be cut out. the gear shift didnt match up to what gear it was in so you had to mess around to get it into drive and reverse.

the funny thing is, someone stole the piece of crap out of my driveway in the burbs. they backed it down the driveway, hit a planter down by the street and knocked the door handle off of the door that opened.

they never found that stupid car, and i got a 94 toyota corola. now that was a good car.

Except for the spoiler, this is my first car, right down to the wheels and the color. 1986 Olds Cutlass Supreme. Nothing all that special about it. Paid $2500 for it with 93k miles on it. Had it for about 2 years, then got rear-ended. Decided it wasn't worth fixing the damage... popped out as much of the dents as I could, replaced teh tail lamps with $5 ones from the junkyard so it would pass inspection, and sold it locally for $2000. A few months later I bought my 4Runner, and still have it.
