Wheel Storage

The current method is large hooks on the ceiling, but won't work with tires installed and too many wheel sets these days to do them in singles.
I'm thinking of a long rack when they sit vertically by pair above the bikes.

Anyone have some good garage methods of storing sets of wheels with or without tires?

I’ll have to describe this, as it was decades ago. But we used an 8’ 2”x4”, and made some ‘T’ type brackets out of small conduit pipe fittings.
The really beefy ones were metal, and used maybe 18-20” of pipe on either side of the ‘T’ for deeper storage of rims, and the shorter ones were conduit, with about 10” on either side of the ‘T’. These would roughly hold 4 complete wheels on them (2 on either side).
I forget how we had them affixed to the 2x4, I think we used U bolts, and hung the 2x4 down from the ceiling with wire or rod or something.

Install a long pole and then stick all of them onto the pole. So when you need the one on the bottom, you need to remove them all to get at it. This is the way.

Or just make something like this out of PVC or whatever you have laying around.

This isn’t elegant, but is cheap, and will work for home use.

What kind of wheels? I have space in my shop if you want to send them up here. I promise I'll take good care of them and I won't sell any wheels.

I like the "T-Bar" out of pipe idea! 2x4 on the ceiling with 3-4 pipe "T's" screwed in holding a pair of wheels on each side. Should be plenty of space. :thumb:

Getting a few mullet bikes going added immensely to the collection. Over the past few years I have been adding alloy wheels in anticipation of every plastic set breaking. :p
