and you get a dissertation for 30 minutes about your co-workers upcoming colon surgery, complete with details and analysis and then you have to hear it several more times when other hapless co-workers fall into the trap of being considerate. Aren't there rules that state the ONLY answer for when someone ask "How are you?" is "Fine,good, how about you?" and they are required to simply answer "Pretty good, thanks." and then we move on?

Sorry. Rant compelte.:rant::rant::rant:

Out of my mind, back in a moment.
When they tell you about the surgery, you should just slowly let an evil grin spread across your face, start wringing your hands and snickering.

When they ask what you're doing, just mutter that the plan is proceeding according to plan.

I have the opposite problem.
People come up to me at work and want to launch into a discussion...I wish they would just say Hi and keep moving.

I think people get confused - just because I work with you, doesn't mean we're buddies.
