nelsonjm moved into the area too. And mattmatt86 and stumpjump are locals/ridemonkey regulars as well. We should have a Maryland Monkeyfest.
I wear a modified fanny pack which can launch smoked sausages towards any hungry carnivore that might want to do me harm. It has a bar-mounted trigger, and it keeps the bears, lions and marmots distracted whilst I make my getaway. It seems most of you people live in places that are beautiful, but where I ride, I don't have to worry about being attacked by bears, mountain lions, cougars, rattle snakes etc. What do people out west or in areas like this do when you ride to prevent winding part of the food chain?
Simple, you just have to take somebody along who is slower than you.It seems most of you people live in places that are beautiful, but where I ride, I don't have to worry about being attacked by bears, mountain lions, cougars, rattle snakes etc. What do people out west or in areas like this do when you ride to prevent winding part of the food chain?
The weather is about the same as yours further east but all the good riding is up in the mountains where I live, and we're lucky to get into the 20's and theres been snow on the ground since november. But the riding is excellent when its warmI would think it's warmer down in NC than it is up here. It's 34 degrees now and too cold but if it gets over 43 or so I ride.
I hear NC is nice riding in the summer too.
i've literally ran into bears before, most of the time they just get spooked by you and take off into the bushIt seems most of you people live in places that are beautiful, but where I ride, I don't have to worry about being attacked by bears, mountain lions, cougars, rattle snakes etc. What do people out west or in areas like this do when you ride to prevent winding part of the food chain?
Okay, now that was funny. Rep coming. But does it fire Snausages? lolI wear a modified fanny pack which can launch smoked sausages towards any hungry carnivore that might want to do me harm. It has a bar-mounted trigger.
That would scare me big time.i've literally ran into bears before, most of the time they just get spooked by you and take off into the bush
Oh I've been to Montreal! It was beautiful. So was Quebec! And the gorgeous blonde french girls... Wow! My eyeballs looked like THIS!From Montreal...
didn't you read the initial post?? It said "where in the US do you live"From Montreal where I mainly rode at the park in Bromont, and re-discovered the fun of XC at Kingdom Trails a few years ago. That's a really awesome trail network.
Moved to Vancouver 3 years ago and have been riding more DH out here. Get out to Galbraith in WA every now and then, and do the pedally thing in Squamish occasionally as well. Most of my riding is on the Shore in the winter and Whistler in the summer on the big bike.
I was waiting for someone to call me on that... I guess your time in the US allows you to post.didn't you read the initial post?? It said "where in the US do you live"
You are not eligible for this thread, retard.
Okay, I missed that. I went back and changed it to "where do you live" so anyone can post. My bad!didn't you read the initial post?? It said "where in the US do you live"

It seems like a lot of people on RM are in the New England area. Nice photo. Love the back drop.I grew up in a small town in central Maine...
Jon, you rode Patapsaco? When did you ride there? And was it any good compared to where you ride now? Grandparents in Arbutus, are you originally from Maryland? I know where Arbutus is. It's right down the road from Patapsaco actually. Kind of on the south east side of University of Maryland where I drop in at sometimes.I rode Patapsco a few times when I visited my grandparents in Arbutus, cool spot.
Do you have any helmet cam footage of your Whistler trip online? I want to go this summer. I've got to buy a lot of stuff, body armor, helmet, then there's shipping my bike there, it's going to be expensive but I have a helmet cam on my mind as a must if I go. I hear so much about Whistler.I used to ride a ton of DH all over the state in Fontana, SB, Mammoth, Tahoe, etc. and did a Whistler trip as well, which kinda marked the end of my DH career - I got the 'Whistler Blues'. Now I stick to a ~50 mile radius from home on the road bike.
Nope, don't have a helmet cam. Actually have no documentation in terms of media that I was there!Do you have any helmet cam footage of your Whistler trip online? I want to go this summer. I actually have ridden in OH too. Rays FTW!!!you've got me with CT and AZ, got all the others covered, plus Ohio, Nevada, Maryland, and Colorado
I actually love my local trails (SMBA)...they're tough but so much fun to ride. Of the places I have ridden, my favorites are:WOW! You've been around a lot! Which do you like best? Bet it's VT or CA.
Dark Side of The Moon
Barrio Viejo
Other Side of The Tracks
Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Between Hell and High Water
Where The Sun Doesn't Shine
Where The Rubber Meets the Road
You're welcome.Moved to the seacoast of New Hampshire in July (and now I know why they are called Massholes).
No sane person "worries" about $hit like this out west.It seems most of you people live in places that are beautiful, but where I ride, I don't have to worry about being attacked by bears, mountain lions, cougars, rattle snakes etc. What do people out west or in areas like this do when you ride to prevent winding part of the food chain?
That is not the finger that I usually get from you folks .You're welcome.
Then you either need to:That is not the finger that I usually get from you folks .
I have noticed that the people of New Hampsha are the friendliest, most polite drivers that I have ever seen ... disturbingly polite sometimes. Hell, the road signs say something about "Drive Courteous, It's the New Hampshire Way."Then you either need to:
2) not be so friendly/conversational
Im in a country with mountains but probably the distance to the closest resort is very similar for usIm from Holland, Europe.
And Ill ride in any place but Holland, Europe.
Exactly, stay in NH then. Leave us Massholes to swear at each other, flip each other off, tailgate, lay on the horn, cut-off one another, run each other off the road and throw stuff at the window at you.I have noticed that the people of New Hampsha are the friendliest, most polite drivers that I have ever seen ... disturbingly polite sometimes.
