Wifey has given me a bit of free range on possibly doing a bike purchase. The little crash last season when I landed on my head and messed up my neck has put some fear of consequence into me (finally). I highly doubt I will be doing any DH riding outside of resorts, and even then I will be renting at this point.
I'd likely be selling my existing bike, wheel sets, extra shock ,etc. that is from my 26" setup. Having the option of building up a DH capable bike is too tempting, hence the switch to 27.5, also because I'm a giant and it just makes sense.
Ride-wise, I love my SB. My only complaints beyond weight ~8# frame is that the seat tube is incredibly slack for an all-mountain bike. Honestly, if I could clone my SB66 on a 27.5, I would do it. But Yeti doesn't think any tall people ride their bikes apparently. And it pisses me off incredibly. That they are the only company that makes a really long trail bike, is what makes tall people ride them. Not sure how they missed that point.
What I'm looking for:
Carbon
27.5"
25.5-26" TT
5-6" travel
Slacker geometry
Low bb
Bikes:
Yeti SB75 - Top out at a large. Sadly, they are off the table, as I love my SB.
Giant Trance - I haven't ridden one in along time, so I would definitely need to hit the local shop.
Trek ?? - I don't even know what the model is here. The only one I have ridden is the DH, which felt great, but the XL was tiny.
Turner Burner
Intense is out.
What else am I missing?
