Would i be better off with a Leatt GPX (1st gen ) Moto Brace or the newer Leatt Ride. I like the idea of the Ride being specific for the bicycle and am not sure what exactly the benefit of the GPX brace would be
Get a model that has the adjustable plates. Avoid the adventure brace (does not have adjustable pieces). Do not get the Ride version (that is the bike / new version of the adventure brace).
I am currently running the 1st generation GPX Club. Having the adjustability is 100% necessary for DH. Friends of mine who have the adventure wish they didn't get it because the plates are positioned too high and feels sketchy on steep trails.
I would get the bike version, Leatt says it is shaped better for DH use vs moto. I assume that means more room for movement on the bike version.
I have the DBX Comp 2 and it works pretty well, the adjustability of the decks/plates is nice, as I have the rear one lowered down for more clearance on steeps.
Agreed with the above, just make sure it has the adjustable plates. I went with the Ride version and even the quality is equally good, I wish I could lower my rear plate.
The only difference between the moto and bicycle version of the Leatt brace is the padding, the frame is the same on both, at least on GPX Club (and Sport) and DBX Comp.
I am not 100% sure about the Adventure and DBX Ride though.
I suppose the GPX adjusted as low as possible is lower than DBX Ride.
All right guys, I've bought Leatt GPX Comp II brace. And as the front-rear motion of my head feels OK, the lateral range of motion seems to be a bit restricted (when turning my head or leaning it on left or right). Will DBX Pads be lower on the sides too?
^yes they are lower on the sides, but we are talking 1/4" or so...
What helmet do you have? I've never had the problem you are describing, and am wondering if you have an oversized helmet or possibly the Leatt rear support adjusted for someone skinnier than you are, which might cause the brace to ride too high.
Giro remedy (s). I've got the pads adjusted for the most skinny version (although there surely are slimmer people out there), but I'm at the edge of the M size (s/m).
I'll try a bigger setting later, but even now I have a little bit of play between my chest/backs and front/rear pad - is it acceptable? Maybe I've chosen the wrong size, is S much smaller than M?
