I just thought about the accusations that Rep. Joe Wilson is a racist.

He said nothing about race, but people are quick to accuse.

Of course, I saw Jesse Jackson on MSNBC today.

However, I did think maybe this is fight-fire-with-fire. If birthers/socialists are afraid of Obama, I believe it partly due to racism. Maybe throwing this accusation around will be a crazy-man counter-argument...

Jesse Jackson is a crazy man. And I firmly believe the birther/socialist movement is about race, because clearly these people are not intellectuals with actual valid arguments. Its all about fear of the black man. Is Joe Wilson a racist? I don't know, but clearly he's an idiot.

As is anyone who questions our president!
Yeah he must be doing something terrible like implementing a plan to torture/violate the Geneva convention, bypassing checks and balances to the executive branch, planning to starting a war under known false premises, pissing on the constitution and calling it a "patriot act I/II", wiretapping all Americans, doing nothing when a national disaster is bearing down on the country, or maybe even trying to improve a failing healthcare system to bring us to par with the rest of the developed world - similar to the healthcare system Joe Wilson and most of his family already has (Tricare, retired military)

No, thats not why hes an idiot. He's an idiot for acting like he was in highscool yelling at the sideline ref during a homecoming game . He's an idiot for not behaving like a grown ass man in an elected professional position. He's an idiot for not bothering to actually have his facts straight when he starts yelling across the floor of congress.

However, in 2003, Wilson voted to provide federal funds for illegal immigrants’ healthcare. The vote came on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003, which contained Sec. 1011 authorizing $250,000 annually between 2003 and 2008 for government reimbursements to hospitals who provide treatment for uninsured illegal immigrants. The program has been extended through 2009 and there is currently a bipartisan bill in Congress to make it permanent.

I'm sure it was all planned. He'll get all the votes from the angry yellers at town hall meetings. He is from South Carolina, I bet if he threw a half empty Bud Lite can they would put Joe Wilson bumper Stickers right next to their Dale Earnhardt "3".

When Democrats question the Republicans in power, its "treasonous" and they are "terrorists". When Republicans question the dems in power, they call themselves "Patriots".

That being said, I'd like to see charges of treason make a comeback.

Well, at least we have mellowed out since the 50's.:twitch:

"The most infamous incident occurred in 1856 when South Carolina Rep. Preston Brooks of South Carolina attacked Massachusetts Sen. Charles Sumner with his cane, beating him into a bloody state of unconsciousness. Brooks was unhappy with one of Sumner's speeches against slavery that focused on his uncle, Sen. Andrew Butler."

Does a president have to be doing something terrible to ask questions of his beliefs and policy?

How does the former president have anything to do with the current president? President Bush went through the ringer and rightly so, why not President Obama?

All politicians have to be held accountable. If a president is upright and truthful in his statements, then the hecklers and Joe Wilson's of the world have little merit to their argument. It does not even require an explanation, you follow? Wouldn't you be even more confident backing someone or someones belief if it stands the fire of tough questions and criticism?

Watch C-Span at any given moment, there are some pretty big and legitimate questions that are being asked, just not answered.

Have you been living in a coma the last 25 years?

(Keep in mind I'm such an Obama fan I called his health care policy after his speech the other day a bigger domestic failure than Katrina.)

That's the point. Wilson doesn't have his facts strait. Which is something you would think you'd want to be sure of before you expose yourself as a tool when you yell at the president, across the halls of congress, on national TV.
Obama was correct when he said his plan wouldn’t insure illegal immigrants; the House bill expressly forbids giving subsidies to those who are in the country illegally. Conservative critics complain that the bill lacks an enforcement mechanism, but that hardly makes the president a liar.
