Will a 3/32" chainwheel work with a cassette?

I'm building up a road bike, and will be using profile cranks. I will be using a single ring up front, all that's needed here in the flatlands. I want to run a cassette in back.

I figure a 9 speed would be out of the question, but would a 7 or 8 speed work? I want to get this chainwheel: http://www.danscomp.com/457061.php?cat=PARTS - in a 46T

It's going to look baddass, I will be using as many BMX parts as I can.

You can run them a 9speed. The only thing that will cause problems is trying to run a double... which isnt possible without going with a spider adapter and normal chainrings.

Cool, thanks guys.

Everyone's like "just go singlespeed".

I have my share of singlespeed bikes, looking for something that I can ride long distances. I have an abundance of BMX parts, looking to build up something solid. Will post pics when it's done
