The Speedy Beavers will be leading a cross country ride through the Heart Lake and Whistle Lake areas of the Anacortes Community Forest. This area is great to ride in the winter as it drains well and is typically in a rain shadow. It has some flowy single track and some challenging hills. Some of the trails wrap around the lakes and in the summer serve as great access to picnic and to swimming spots.
All rides are suited for Beginner, Intermediate and Expert Riders. At each of our rides, we will have at least three team leaders and we can break into three groups to suit the riding needs of the group.
We will meet in the Heart Lake parking lot, where there is a restroom and lake access.

Directions to Heart Lake Parking Lot from I-5:
Take Hwy 20W from off ramp exit 230 in Burlington/ Mt Vernon. Follow Route 20 for about 15 miles, then the road reaches a T intersection, turn left onto Commercial Ave, right on Fidalgo Ave, left onto O Ave, right on 41st Street, left onto H Avenue, which becomes Heart Lake Road. Go about 1/4 a mile and the Heart Lake parking area will be on the right, the driveway is dirt.

The Speedy Beavers are a group of women downhill and cross country mountain bikers who race, ride, and have fun. We try to encourage other women and girls to ride too. One way we do this is by sponsoring fun rides where we ride some of our favorite local trails and invite others to join us.
