Well I was on vacation for six days beginning with the weekend before the 4th of July and today was my final day off until the last week of July - couldn't have thought of a better way to spend it than a day of Downhilling at Mt. Snow with I Are Baboon, Douglas and Treesaw!
We basically had the mountain all to ourselves, except for about four other riders and we got in plent of runs today. The weather held out and it made for a great day of DH action on the mountain.
I came to realize the importance of good avid mechanical brake pads twice during the day. Once at the beginning when the existing pair of pads wore down to metal on my rear brake, then I replaced them with some Aztec pads that came free with the brakes I bought from a fellow monkey (Aztec pads suck monkey ass - don't ever buy them - mine were free so I used em - they lasted about three runs). Thank God for Douglas being in the way otherwise on one run I would have been screaming down the middle of Mt. Snow with no rear brakes! I hope the wheel is repairable Doug and thanks again for allowing me to use you and your bike as a bumper to stop!
Good times with good Monkeys! What a great day. Looking forward to my next DH adventure.
Here's some photos from the day.
