House I am looking to buy got the official inspection today. Which is needed for me to get the necessary insurance and proceed with a purchase. I hope it looks good so I don't have to walk away as not much time left to find an alternative.

New knife day and I got an "Exceeds Expectations" on my yearly performance review, which would ordinarily be cause for celebration, but are instead overshadowed by all the noise. Womp womp.

Performance reviews! Haha. My self-evaluation was due on the 31st. I hope there’s a question about timeliness.

I think I’ll wander over to the bay today for a walk. The beach in the winter is one of my favs…

That shit is so pointless.

This year I just copy and pasted goals from someone else. Our system lets us delete them later on, so if I'm not going to meet one, just get rid of it.

Last year's self evaluation was summed up with me entering "good".

Still waiting on the review from the boss. And then they'll yep all good let's touch on the goals again later this year......which has never happened in the ten years I've worked here.

ANYWAYS

At work and gotta poop.

I use it as a tool for my own benefit. I try to use the same four questions that I get asked every year as a time to "head check" myself or benchmark my attitude. I always rate myself as "exceeds expectations 5/5." Management can adjust my scores and depending on who/if they adjust I can see if they are paying attention. I also like to hide easter eggs in my review. No one has found any of them yet...

This year I may actually write the review for management. As in me evaluating them. Maybe I'll do it blatantly. Maybe I'll couch it in there somehow...

HEY MAN LMFAO HOLY FUCK. Still feeling the last of this flu...some coughing and sniffling, but much better than I felt exactly one week ago. I got outside before work for a 7 mile jog. I ran way too many treadmill miles last month and that's enough of that shit.

I am WFH in the basement and left the dogs upstairs. We'll see how long that lasts before the puppy wakes up and finds something to destroy. The last time I gave her free run of the place, she destroyed a remote control, a running shoe, and a sandal despite having a BOUNTY of dog toys to chew on.

yes and no. at my org it has a direct impact on your annual performance bonus.
:stupid:

Annual performance has always influenced my raise/bonus. It's somewhat pointless, as management loves to tie goals into overall organizational performance (over which I, an individual contributor, have little influence), so I execute on what I can and let the rest shake out however it does.

ours cascade down too, to a certain degree. individual contributor goals need to be aligned with manager / director goal.

Well yeah there is that here too, but as long as my goals are all completed and the boss thinks I'm doing good, that's all that really matters.

And then again I can just go in and change them at any point...

how many stories were told before someone claimed they had to commit murder to get to the office
Not murder, just cannibalizing those who didn't make it.

But really, just a bunch of privileged schmucks who have never had jobs where they had to go in no matter what, so overcoming minor challenges deserves glowing self congratulations.

Given that annual comp gets paid out on Friday, I'm assuming my review is during my weekly call today. Otherwise, busy.

Best friend surprised me yesterday, telling me he's driving to Utah and will be in Denver tonight. So we have company this evening.

You're not going to die or something, are you? :(

I continue to go with "I'm not a goal-oriented person." :D

Goals: Do what needs to be done.
This right here. Just get the shit done when it needs to be done.

Sounds like someone is management material! :homer:
