They really are good at "getting on board"....regardless who they are following.

They back GWB even though he's incompetent.

Not the Democrats. They will actually express displeasure with people on their own side. The whole Hillary/Obama thing? That would NEVER happen on the right.

"Oh....he's our guy? Really? Oh.....uh.....YEAH!!! HE'S THE MAN!!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

I mean spinning the knocked up slutty daughter as an inspiring pro-life message?? Really??

Christ, I bet she could have gotten knocked up during a freaking gang bang....that was later posted on youtube. The right would be claiming she was just making it easy for everyone to SEE what a role model she was....and that she was not an elitist by letting 9 guys do her at once....

Seriously...republicans are disturbingly good at towing the line...

leaving ron paul aside, you do understand whoever is (in this case presumptively) nominated is actually the guy in charge, and is therefore the leader, and it's under whom everyone shall fall?

of course, we could jump ship for a 3rd party spoiler. that worked out well in '92 & '96.

don't forget i predicted the pro-life message all on my own. man, did no one else see this coming? in the event of a 10 pt lag in the polls, the down's baby will be trotted out like a languishing patrick swayze (can he just die already?)

Well yeah.....and the US economy fell like a frickin' rock under Bush. So despite supporting him, you (the collective "you") fell....

Just because he's in charge doesn't mean you have to blindly support everything.

Oh yeah...I forgot about 9/11

Also a bad move strategically. The gov't should have moved 9/11 a few years later so that they could have invaded Iraq closer to election time! (Renegade Rick will be here any second)

Be that as it may....but seriously ....how many months has Obama been in the public eye now campaigning? Like him or hate him, people have had some time to "get to know him". No-one knew Palin existed less than a week ago, yet the republicans are rallying around her like the (not so) virgin Mary. And it can really only be based on the fact that she was the "chosen one".......certainly not on her credentials on paper.

I think the left does a more thorough job at vetting their candidate for themselves. said...

View from 1:05 for my response. Irrelevant, yeah I know.

Republicans gotta back their guy no matter what. Spending trillions to kill people that did nothing to us is way better than supporting the (probably not quite as) expensive socialist programs the Democrats are pushing. :clapping:

you seem to be ill-informed, or are at least limiting your research to this board, which is little more than an echo chamber for the left at times. if elected, biden wouldn't wreck this country, trample the constitution, or start a war. he'll just be another run-of-the mill veep. same goes for palin.

so you know about the 5 deferments biden got for 'nam? and the plagiarism in law school? and his middle name is Robinette? the muck will be trotted out the next few weeks as it was previously when he stuck his head out. just don't get buyer's remorse when it happens.

I'm not a huge Biden fan, and it will be challenge promoting someone with such a long history in the public eye (read: dirty as any other politician) during the campaign, but I actually think he will be an invaluable advisor to Obama in navigating Washingtonian affairs. I would NOT want him in the executive spot, where he would be business as usual and I'd rather have fresh ideas and a strong will, but I would want that bank of knowledge somewhere in the cabinet.

Palin brings absolutely nothing to the table. In a true executive role, I would guess that she probably is a get-things-done, strong-willed badass but that only serves you well when you're the top dog... it will be trumped by McCain's will everytime, and as of now she has no other skills or insights to offer. I've got a fiver saying the general campaign doesn't reveal anything beyond that. Right now she's just a bone to throw to disgruntled hillaryites that are so angry they'll cut off their clits to spite their uteri.

disagree. she's not much of a woman's woman.
she is more of a man's woman.
you're right, she is ALSO a bone thrown to the far-right. But make no mistake, there are women out there who care more about the naughty bits of their pres and VP than ANY OTHER ISSUE. There's an insane quote in Sunday's NYT Week in Review of a women who is pro-choice, but is so angry that pro-choice orgs came out in support of Obama, that she is voting for McCain/Palin to give the pro-choice movement "what it deserves."

edit: I should add that I don't believe most Hillary supporters to be like the above example , and I think the move is not just a miscalculation by McCain, but an insult to women.

...so you know about the 5 deferments biden got for 'nam?
And how many did Dick Cheney get?

VPOTUS is a non factor...we all need to get over it. UNLESS the POTUS has a grabber and moves on to the happy hunting ground. Then we are in trouble, unless the Veep is a guy like Jerrry Ford...

Actually, more of a comprehension test. Like can you comprehend how big a hypocrite someone has to be, to be a politician.

Do as I say...not as I do, is the rule. Just once, I want to hear a politician stand up and say something to the effect of "You know, I used to feel that way, but time and experience has taught me that..." or "H#ll yeah I smoked it/screwed her/did that and you know what, it was great...but that was then, this is now..."

But that would take all the fun out of it.

Yeah that would be good to hear, doubt it will ever happen,

but you might get a "we'll cross that bridge when we get to it " from Ted Kennedy

vibiker is a perfect example of my point in this thread.
what, that republicans have a lock on getting behind their man, and all the while ignore that in the primaries obama & hillary were neck & neck, then upon concession overnight nearly all her supporters were behind him?

you mean that?

Oh, and that had nothing to do with unions artificially keeping wages higher than they should be (driving away jobs), or lazy/permissive/feel-good/hippy types abandoning real education for politically correct crap and false self-esteem over the years...it's no wonder our position has slid in the world.

Yep, we teach ourselves to "feel good about ourselves" while hard-working realists in India and elsewhere are busy being good at things. Pure laziness on our part, we deserve our decline. Nada to do with Bush, please.

you know, this is only accentuated by freakin' Gibb's comments today on MSNBC. if Sarah were a Democrat, you would've had the rank and file coming out today talking about how she's just another typical politician who attacked Obama 99% of the time, with the remaining 1% talking about herself, and 0% on what she's actually going to DO as VP. It would have been the party talking point, and for the next week you would have heard it over, and over and over again. (just like the republican candidates who came out and said over and over again how great Sarah was, and how she had foreign policy experience b/c AK was close to Russia)

Instead you have Gibbs (Obama's communications director) giggling and talking about how great her speech was.

Sigh.

Ah, personal attacks instead of any evidence refuting my arguement.

That does happen a lot actually, and just like in grade school it means your opposition has no logical response and has tossed in the towel.

We're in a world economy now, if American workers aren't keeping up with the cost of living it's because they're not keeping up with their competition (educated workers in other countries). Handouts and legislation are only short-term band-aids; we need to get off our butts and learn to truly be more productive, more efficient, more innovative, etc.

Our dumbed-down entitlement society is getting back exactly what it's putting in; not enough.

some other stupid white woman said something about this when she should have been ironing her pantaloons:

And stopping tax entitlements for companies who move manufacturing overseas would have nothing to do with it.
You use the plurals we and ours, yet you refer to workers as they...what kind of eliteist are you?

What doe sit tell our workers when they are paid enough to shop at WalMart, and everything there is made in China?
