Youth Dominates
The 2010 Eastern States Cup Downhill Series
The Eastern States Cup Downhill Mountainbike Series, a USA Cycling Regional Championship crowned it’s Champions at Plattekill Mountain on Sunday, October 17th. Youth dominated the pro ranks as 15 year old Richie Rude and 17 year old Lauren Daney both took home $500 and USAC Regional Championship medals. The series was contested at two of the Northeast’s premier bike parks, five races at Plattekill Mountain, NY and three races at Mount Snow, VT. Mount Snow and Plattekill are pioneers in the sport both having held races since the beginning of the sport in the late 1980’s.

USAC Pro racers Oliver Levick took home $250 and Gravity Project rider Erik Gosselin took home $100 for 2nd and 3rd in the series. Another $1000 was split among the Amateur Champions, this is in addition to over $3000 that was paid to amateurs throughout the season. The ESC is the richest Amateur Downhill Series in the United States and the only eastern series to award the prestigious USAC Regional Championship Medals.

The Eastern States Cup also hosted the NY and VT USAC state championships earlier this season. The series was successful and had great attendance in it’s first year. The Eastern States Cup will be growing and adding venues in 2011.

Rude is STUPID fast for a guy his age - chainless at the Open this year and STILL top 10. Rude, The Truth, and Quehl all rip. Would like to see them kill it next year!

Elli is a bit of a surprise, but then again, I'm not even sure if SHE is aware... :)

Congrats to all!
