for that kind of money you can find VERY nice hardtails on ebay
I've seen mint konas like the Mulimula go for less than 400.
If you feel confortable with it or can get help you can also build your own bike with used components.
But you need patience and a bit of luck :(
I had Hayes HMX on my stinky and had nothing but problems.
I finally toasted them on a DH race and the little plastic dial (black on hayes) indeed sort of melted.
Mechanichal do have a great modulation (from dragging to slowing down, no braking to be found)
Happy owner of hope now

This would be sooo nice if you didn't have to sketch the drilling yourself and have it machined.
How long do you think the thing is going to survive ?
If it does, marketing guys will need to be rally creative this...
ok,
I got my hands on a XTR crankset and i need to replace the trutativ that came with my bike (a kona stinky five) in order to install it
The doc of the bike says 68x113 and it seems that shimano XTR BB are 112.5 ...
Would half a milimeter be a problem ?

Well, I'm a bit too late :)
Congratulation to the monkey/monkess who designed the logo, i really like it so i couldn't really mess around ...
