Let me guess - high deductible plan?
Maybe you should have gotten cancer instead?

Obamacare saved my life

In 2000 my insurance was 100% company paid. By 2015, I was paying $1200/month as a contracted employee. Don't thank Obama, thank the insurance industry.

How is the CEO supposed to live on only $20M in this day and age?

Some light reading:
https://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/health-insurance-industry-rakes-in-billions-while-blaming-obamacare-for-losses-110116.html
Bet you a shiny quarter.

"Man! That plan with the $5000 deductible sure is cheap!"
Your gripe is valid, but repealing the ACA won't do shit to fix what's broken here, which is a) misunderstanding of what high deductible plans cover and don't cover, and b) misunderstanding of the (lack of) relationship between the ACA and health insurance premiums.
How much did it cost?
It's telling, I think, That @pnj hasn't responded.

I am having trouble trying to figure out how it is called Obama-care.

Originally a republican plan.
Overhauled by the democrats to try to fix problems and bring it closer to single payer.
Riddled by compromises by the republicans (mostly to insurance companies) to the point it is less effective than the original plan.
While still better than before, it is hardly a centerpiece.

It just boggles my mind that the hatred for teh black dude is so great that the repubs are ready to throw several million people under the bus just to destroy a plan they basically wrote as a watered down version of a plan they originally put forth.... WTF?

Obamacare was created by the right pretty much as an insult to make sure their own rank and file who may benefit from it would be against it.

Those were the peak days when Obama was being called a gun stealing death paneling Islamic Kenyon communist nazi.

Obama said fuck it and informally owned the name.

Found out that my health insurance plan costs my company about $550/month. I have no deductible and no monthly out of the pocket contributions, it covers vision and dental. Seems like a pretty good deal, large corporate account must help. I bet it would be even cheaper if there were more people enrolled. Just get everyone in the country on this plan and it would be super cheap!

The Donald to lower drug prices... Oh wait.

Today, after a meeting with pharmaceutical industry lobbyists and executives, he abandoned that pledge, referring to an idea he supported as recently as three weeks ago as a form of “price fixing” that would hurt “smaller, younger companies.” Instead of getting tough, Trump’s new plan is that he’s “going to be lowering taxes” and “getting rid of regulations.”

:rofl::rofl::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic:

The Los Angeles Times reports that Antonio Foreman, the bodyguard for white nationalist internet personality Tim “@BakedAlaska” Gionet, was stabbed by two men named Edgar Khodzhafaryan, 30, and Arsen Bekverdyan, 31, this past Saturday night after getting into a verbal altercation with them.

Lt. Saul Rodriguez, a Santa Monica police spokesman, tells the Los Angeles Times that his department believes Foreman was stabbed due to the argument he was having with the two men in the parking lot, and not due to racial or political animus.

Despite this, however, Gionet is insisting that Foreman was targeted for being white, and on the crowdfunding page set up to help Foreman pay his medical bills similarly claims that he was “stabbed 9 times for being white in Los Angeles.”

Even though Foreman is a professional bodyguard, he apparently lacks health insurance, which is why his friends are trying to raise $125,000 to pay for his treatment.

In addition to being Gionet’s bodyguard, Foreman is also a member of the Oath Keepers, a right-wing militia group whose founder says that armed vigilantes are needed to defend America from “Marxists” on the streets of American cities.

When the boss says to get it done before you leave for vacation...

McConnell delays August recess

http://theweek.com/speedreads/711309/mcconnell-delays-august-recess-healthcare-debate-looms
Tuesday. The annual month-long recess now will not begin until the third week of August to allow the Senate time to "complete its work on the health-care reform" and then "turn to other important issues including the National Defense Authorization Act and the backlog of critical nominations," McConnell said.

McConnell blamed the delay on Democrats' "obstruction," claiming they have "mindlessly stalled" nominations and shown "a lack of cooperation." McConnell has struggled in recent weeks to secure enough Republican support to hold a vote on the bill he crafted to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

Who would have thought that the republicans were incapable of legislating???

Other than anyone who has a pulse, some common sense and has been half way paying attention for the last decade.

I picked the plan that I could afford. I live in one of the most expensive cities, it seems. I don't even have insurance now because I have to pick between paying rent or having insurance? My car isn't big enough to sleep in so....

Plugged some quick numbers in there. I don't know how it all works but it would seem that it does not take COL into consideration. You pretty much aren't living in Seattle if your income meets subsidy levels, at least not without being in a multi-income household, (roommates or spouse). But that being said, a bare bones plan is pretty much noise compared to rent, depending on age.

Edit: PNJ is an old fucker so that isn't helping him too much.

Ten years ago I looked at becoming self employed. With a pre-existing condition of psoriasis a bare bones plan would have cost me close to $1000/month. Looks like under Obamacare it would be less than a third of that.

At this point in my life I have a few pre existing conditions.

From a legal standpoint, would it be possible to drive to Kentucky, beat the shit out of mitch mcconnel, and have it qualify as self-defense?

Will the gamble pay off? Will a yes vote and the ensuing public branding of "socialist/communist/libcucksnowflake..." overshadow the fact that someone is voting to end the "choice" of crippling personal debt and unnecessary hardship by replacing it with a cheaper, and arguably more effective system?

I'm having a hard time reconciling how people would see single payer as an intrusion on their freedoms when in reality it gives them unlimited freedom to choose.

I've got a way to save a bunch of money... ask all citizens over the age of 60 if they support the Republican efforts with regards to health care.

If they say, "yes" the feds cancel both Social Security payments and Medicare/Medicaid benefits for that citizen. So they can walk the walk.

Perhaps at the same time cut off any agricultural-related benefits they might be taking advantage of - all subsidies for crops, public-land grazing, etc.

Hell - let's just poll everyone.

A friend of mine had a right wing-nut father who was all about guns and no government. He refused to accept any Social Security when he retired. When he suffered kidney failure he refused to accept Medicare and quickly died because he couldn't afford his dialysis.

Have to respect the guy for standing up to what he believed. I recommend more people with the same thoughts follow his lead.

I say force it. And when they run into something like kidney failure and they demand to be fixed, we can bring them a pillow. You know, because we care.
