How is it when you send out a post to invite people to ride, you end up being called a "poacher"
Someone make since of this! This is a PM i got.
Hey, I saw your posts about riding at central park and building at yellow river. There a couple of things you should be aware of. Central Park is not open yet. If you want to ride come up and dig at an official work party and you can "test" what's out there (next one is the the 22nd 9am-noon). The county outdoor rec mgr (who went to bat for DH/FR riders and helped get the parks commission to approve the area) is a good guy and is getting loads of grief from the insurance adjuster since the FR area is not officially open. If people keep poaching the area we've been warned the area may be pulled. Please respect the fact that it's closed and don't encourage folks on a public forum to ride there yet. Also I've seen some of the stuff that's been built at yellow river and so has the county. Also I've seen some of the stuff that's been built at yellow river and so has the county. One the the higher ups in Gwinnett co parks and rec is anti bike and points to the 'illegal stunts and trails' to use as leverage to try to get mtn bikers kicked out of the park. Currently sorba is trying to work with gwinnett county to take over maintenance of the trails. The county will insist when this happens that all of the illegal stunts will be torn down. If you want to build get involved with the local sorba chapter. You input will help determine what gets built, lame xc trail or some fun freeride stuff. Mansell is the perfect example of this. 5 of us started going to the Rambo meetings and started working with them to keep the DH area. Once construction is finished and the reroutes are done SoFA will be permitted to fix and build.
I know you have the best intentions and only want some fun places to ride but poaching closed trails and building "illegal stunts" jepardizes everyone's access in the future. Please think about your actions the next time you post an open invite on a public forum.
Someone is a uptight person.
This is my response
Hey man, I understand your concerns, I do! If I am incorrect on this let me know, but I was under the impression that Central Park IS OPEN. Now I am aware that the freeride section is not open and I said nothing about riding it in my posts on this website and have not to this day "poached". All I said in my post was that we are riding at Central Park. Now, the fact that you want to jump all over me for riding my bike seems like you are someone who is more into the politics than riding, the way you came across was very rude and I didn't appreciate it. Secondly, there is nothing at Yellow River that says NO BUILDING. I have been riding there for almost a decade now, and you are the first person that has ever said that we were "poaching" the trail. Do me a favor, why don't you stop riding mountain bikes and start riding road bikes so that you don't have anybody to be rude to except for drivers.
