Winter has hit, and as such, I got out on the trails in the morning, then hosted my 2nd annual Fatbike shakedown ride and brewery tour yesterday evening.

From today's ride - XC along the Missouri river in Great Falls Montana. The deer appeared much closer and more delicious in person. The first part is the comfort bike trail that all to fun XC trails loop off from.

Where this is in AK? Kincaid and downtown Anchorage?
Downtown? Us locals never go downtown. All the good breweries are in midtown and south anchorage. In the winter, the Campbell Airstrip area is the go-to fatbiking place, with trails everywhere, plus connections to hilltop. Kincaid is ok, but Campbell is where it's at in the winter. Trails everywhere.

That night I rode home on the Tour Trail, Blue Dot (winter only), Coyote Tracks and Birch Meadow. We accessed 3 breweries via the Campbell Creek Trail, which is a paved trail that runs though the city, but that night it was all snow.

I lived in Eagle River when I was up there...so thats all downtown to me! Campbell was a great area then too...Kincaid was the road bike pass through, xc ski place.

Mind you, this was in the dark ages (Early 90s...) before microbreweries were common. I cant remember a single one...

Trail is basically dry underneath, rode it a couple days ago and it was bare. Just a little dusting overnight and one of those "might be the last time the skinny bike is out this year"-rides. Nice and chilly in the teens, felt colder in the valleys. So nice to have the gear to just ride and not care :D

^^looks like closing weekend at Mtn Creek. I always used to prefer hitting the first wall on Alpine.

Wife and I yesterday, a little road, a little gravel, a little trail.

Seeing a lot of these pics reiterates that SoCal is sorta crappy for mountain biking. Freaking dust and rocks.
