Fixed instrument systems in flying gas stations, RAF Mildenhall, UK

Watched SR-71's take off and land, also U-2's.

Best time I had was telling a full bird colonel that he wasn't flying home that day because I was grounding his airplane. I was wearing 2 stripes on my sleeve at the time.

Hell yeah, glad to see another Aircraft Maintainer.

Stationed at Pope, been there this whole time except for my times in the sandbox, where I am currently.

Still got 2 and a half years to decide if I am staying in. Thinking about crossing over to 135's I heard comm/nav is pretty easy on them. Hell compared to 130's anything would be easier.

Yeah, but you can't land a 135 in 3500' of dirt, nor do they do SOLL.

It would seem that only Airmen get opportunities to tell brass what for without fear of reprocussions. When I had three stripes I told three stars what for and was backed up by five stripes. Controlling a CAPEX is hard enough without some goob who isn't a controller trying to tell you how to do your job.

When I had 3 stripes, I had a full bird trying to give me some orders.

Problem was, he had no idea what he was talking about and I basically told him to go sit in a corner.

And My wife has just enlisted in the Army Reserves She ships to Basic on Halloween....

I personally love going up to a plane during a red-streak, (for those of you who don't allready know a red streak is when a plane is getting ready to block out and something breaks), only to tell the crew member that he had a switch in the wrong potition or didnt even have the system on. Those are great.

I once had a major tell me he was breaking the plane because there was a recurring problem. I wanted to bad to tell him, "You want to break this plane? Here let me do it for you." Then proceed to walk up and yank something off and tell him, "Here ya go, happy?"

I went to the Water Survival course there in '84. That was three days of fun in the Sun. Parasailing in Biscayne Bay and getting paid for it sure was tough.
