Thanks for taking the time to answer Dave!

I'm loving the performance of the DRS on my dh bike and i really want to dump the boxguide that is on my hardtail....

Just that i can't afford a LG-1 so far..... and i really like the product.
I think that e.thirteen had you in mind when they came up with this... http://www.sicklines.com/2010/01/08/ethirteen-introduces-ls1-a-new-budget-priced-option/

edit: And then I realized this was a super old thread, either way the post is relevant.

IS vs Post mount needs to be resolved!

I say count up whatever products use each, and whichever uses the most everyone else has to use just that standard from then on.

Same goes for direct mount stems. (looking at you marzocchi)

Almost two years have passed since i created this thread.....

And Revelation comes with 20mm thru axle
Shimano realesed 4pot brakes
The new saint is equal a hone for 83mm (but way pricer of course, 20mm longer axle must be soooo expesiver to produce...)
Race face came with a light and strong 83mm cranks
Manitou realeased the new dorado with the features that i described in the first post
The Saints have a different alloy than the Hones I'm pretty sure.

How about a downhill saddle actually designed for downhillers.

How many of us are using lightweight XC saddles? X-C!!!

Doesn't need to be comfortable
Needs to provide some directional control between legs
Tough
Lightweight
Maybe slightly larger sides/back to cushion the blow in crashes
Needs to have rad colors for extra speed

Even the shape should probably be re-engineered for DH use...

- Manitou to make a 6" AM fork (single crown/right side up) with the same level of
incredibleness of the Dorado. Oh, and at 5 lbs please. Keep the carbon.

- Hammerschmit with hollow OCT arms ect...

- Please someone make a dropper post w/ 5" of drop, mechanical as opposed to
hydro, and @ 400 grams w/ a remote that is small and easy to hit. Make it reliable
too please. This category needs loads of work.

there are plenty of dedicated DH saddles...the problem is that people want lightweight strong and functional...but you only get two. Most people opt for a plastic XC saddle because it looks good on a scale.

My selle shiver saddle is excellent for half the reasons above...but it's not the lightest out there. I can still crash with it though, which is a bonus.

ooh on the post idea, i'd like to see a dual post (ie, 54* to 72*) to de-layback the retarded seat angles that frame manufacturers insist on.

I agree with this post. But mostly keeping a super strong interface between the rails and the rest of the seat (no replaceable rails on dh seats). This is important in preventing major injuries like mine (see album for pics-the broken seat could have killed me, no joke): http://klopp.pinkbike.com/album/OUCH/

DH Pivotal seats and posts, Is coming, sooner or later.
Plastic pedals are going to be a MTB standart

And hopefully someday a massive production Cromo DH frame that will last 5 seasons of punishment, of course with a mid/spanish BB and inegral (campy) headtube

I see a reason for a pivotal dh seat but plastic pedals, mid/spanish bb's and integral headtubes? I know dirt jumpers want to be trendy and pretend they ride bmx bikes but we are dh'ers we pretend we ride mx ;)

pivotals would be cool
and i also like the integrated headtube it helps with low stackheight of the headset and installig a headset has never been that easy.

not sure about the plastic pedals though

^^^ Jeebus, dude! glad you're ok because that's a nasty injury, do you remember what happened?
Yeah. I was conscious the whole time. It sucked. But I did just get my staples out two days ago so things are looking up (they had to stay in for 5 weeks). Now I just have to deal with the swelling in my leg and blood thinners.
