I am fairly certain that the head games, if there are any, only work on internet wankers.
Quoted for someone finally saying it.

Who here seriously thinks that Hill is going to win? Not, do you want him to win or would love to see him come back and win, but honestly think that he will be on the top step?

lol MSA.

Who hear really thinks Eyebrows wont be coming back at 100%?

Because if so, apparently his head games have worked on the internet wankers.

And if not, who here really thinks Eyebrows can't win worlds at 100%, no matter who the competition is?

And if not, who here really thinks Eyebrows can't take Rock Jesus at champery?

Rock Jesus has been winning by 2-4 second margins. Not 14 second margins in the dry, and still managing podiums in the wet (when everybody else had dry).

sam had that margin in one quali one year. the races he did win in the same season were won by margins of 1.69, 1.33 and 5.14. the races he's won since have all been in a similar 2-4 second margin.

this is not to say sam couldn't win worlds this year, just that with one exception things have been pretty equal. yes, his huge margin was on this track, but things have changed since 2007. gwin has stepped up his racing in a big way - he did beat sam in all 3 races sam was in this season, two of those by over 7 and 9 seconds. did sam start this season at 100%?

i think a lot of people would love to see sam take it, but the reality is there are several guys who have a shot at it, i don't think anyone is an obvious choice.

not saying that both of those were flukes, but they happened one time...not over and over again....gwin is winning by a similar consistent margin at almost every race....he is in complete control....while i'd love to see hill do well for the sake of excitement, two wonder runs from 3-4 years ago doesn't mean that he can just re enter the sport (which is now at an elevated level) whenever he heals from an INJURY and destroy the field....that was along time ago that he pulled that off....

Hey Ben, why the cross hatched cuts in the end of that one log on the bridge?
It was a feeble attempt at adding some grip to the end of the log. If you were to jump the creek hard on the inside you could land there or just after. I was just trying to get it out of the line by angling it back and my saw was cutting well so I did that too. Probably doesn't serve a real purpose though.

I dont really think the sport progressed so much he is behind. He commented he is not in full form and had some problems in the off season.

yah, I guess getting 3rd and destroying the rest of the field just doesn't count. He's won more world championships then anybody but nico, and he knows how to come back from an injury to win it. His season last year was just as mediocre, nobody really considered him a threat for it, and then he won it. Its very very clear he's playing headgames pretending he's still injured, and just as clear that he will probably be riding at 100% or very near it. And there is no track that suits him as well as this one.

If it's so obvious he's playing "head games" or whatever to you, wouldn't it be just as obvious to the other racers? And you've still yet to explain how these head games will affect them. Gwin isn't gonna say "Oh well Sam's hurt I can show up and run chainless and win." If Hill does win, it's gonna be because he was just faster on that day, not because of some kind of David Blaine **** he's pulling on the field.

It makes him an unknown quantity in other riders minds and if you don't think that has an impact on how they are going to approach a race you're an idiot.

why the hell would he race vds? his season was already shot, the overall didn't matter, he has enough golds that its not like he desperately needs another to show how good he is, and all he's focusing on is champery. All racing VDS does is show everybody that he's back on top and the guy to beat. As is, he's a wildcard and everybody has to worry, what's sam gonna do? I don't know if you've paid attention to racing for along time, but thats pretty much when he's at his best. He loves head games, and the more everybody is worrying about him and what he's gonna do, the faster he goes.
Why would he race Windham last year then? Your "logic" is simply assumptions.

This thread is chock-full of lame. Can we get back to talking about the track and the build up, rather than fanboi/hater circlejerk please?

Racers get into eachothers heads all the time. If eyebrows is seeded low, and then puts up a time thats 14 seconds faster then the top seeded times, that information will make the rounds, and people get sloppy when they know they need to go even faster and they're already at the limit.

Plus, its well known he's been testing the carbon demo which is debuting at champery, they probably didn't want him hopping on another bike, and then going back to the carbon. Keep it consistent.

I'm either going to be the most awesome predictor ever, and have e-bragging rights about who's gonna win for the next year, or I'm going to have alot of words to eat lol

If nothing else all this spirited debate shows just how many true contenders there are this year. I have no idea who's going to win, but I know that it will be an awesome race.

If you put a gun to my head I'd say it goes:
1. Rock Jesus (homer pick)
2. Minnaar
3. Hart

Hasn't Hill been training in Champery for the last week? If so, has anybody seen him? If so, why haven't you said anything - getting paid off to remain silent???

Kind of comical all the hype going on here...in a good way. It just shows how much interest there is in this race and the sport in general. I'm sure that Hill, Barel and all the other wounded warriors will be bound up good'n'tight and ready for 3-4min of fury.

Just over a week to go and all the hype disappears!!!:weee:

Nobody has been training for the last week because the track was closed to put up all the nets and course tape.

It rained a lot yesterday but the track should be fine. It is steep and worked in pretty hard. I think all the water just ran off. Training should be good but it looks like it will rain again during the race.

13 pages of mostly drivol, but here's a fun fact:

There hasn't been a seeding run at worlds in 3 years and there won't be one in Champery either. Racers are pre-seeded by UCI rank and the defending champs goes last.

Sam only left Perth on Saturday (IE: Yesterday here in Europe), so that'd be a difficult thing to do.

Also, I figured this thread would be a good place to mention that this will be freecaster's last major MTB event for awhile. Apparently next year they are NOT doing the World Cups and will instead focus on some european local events due to $$$ and the UCI.

That's a pisser. I'm sure the UCI are quite expensive to work with. If it weren't for all the amazing photo/video offerings from all involved (yourself, for instance - thanks!), I'm sure I'd be completely flipping out right about now.

Keep up the great work!:thumb:

Any idea what the problem is with the UCI??? I'm feeling a petition coming on:thumb: And in regards to the $$$ side of things, I for one would be ok with a small fee to lessen the burden.

Just when freecaster was really begining to get sorted with the live feeds. I will seriously miss the nice sunday afternoons with warners commenting and some awesome racing, such a bummer.

The UCI arent complicating matters for say dirt and other filmers, like worlds last year?

Yeah, we need something like the TTR (ticket to ride) Tour and make our own rules.
They even managed to get slopestyle olympic!
Seriously the UCI is retarded...

Edit: Maybe the FMB tour should start with DH races...
