Funny to me that Rob directly compared that run to Sam's in 2008. One major difference between the two.

Now that was pretty unreal, what a fantastic run! Whatever Jonny T has Gwin doing is surely working and having Martin as his manager will also be helping massively surrounding him with the best of everything. But at the end of the day the riding does the talking and boy was that some talking!

Did you miss the run and only watched the slow-mo? Gwin was, by a wide margin, faster than any of the other guys at pretty much all the straight line stuff, and pretty wild in some of the corners as well..
Is that perhaps the secret to him beating the rest of the guys by 8 secs; simply being able to push it closer to the limits on the straight stuff by pure faith that his giant b@lls will break his fall if he crashes?
also, I've made fun of the east coasters in the past about stroking it to Rude, thinking "alright give him a chance to actually ride a real WC course with real WC riders first before you say he's the second coming of christ" but I'm thinking he has some real potential

Nah, but if the rest of the field wants to beat him, they have to live every waking moment dedicated to DH racing, training, etc....oh, and RC cars.
I've heard a lot over the last year and a half that Gwin, even when he wins, doesn't look fast. He sure as hell looked to be the fastest on every bit of that course today. He is an animal. Even in S. Africa he looked faster than Minnaar, I think Minnaar got a home town discount.
