Uh, we've got one in stock here in Canada, and a buddy has one at home.

Unless you are waiting on Midget, or Monster size?

Santa Cruz? I'd bet sometime after Hell freezes over, but before zombie day if you're lucky!

boxxers are no longer polishy; pita to keep that way, so i just give them an occasional quick wet scrub w/ fine steel wool for a kind of burnished satin look. build has been bomber (lucked out w/ a non-glitchy boxxer, it seems), so no major component swaps.

I always tohought, these bikes were a piece of art. Not pretty, but art :D
The most amazing thing on these bikes for me is the flexing chainstay...

Remind me how the gears work on a Lahar. Is it a Rohloff, or an internally-mounted mech/cassette?

Always wanted one... sigh.

yer. like a carbon zerode.

seb - was a bit dodgy, but i was lucky enough to get mine within a reasonable timeframe, and aaron was great dealing with (before he got snowed under and things went sideways, i guess). i actually cracked my 1st frame (big nose case on a tech gap); he had a new front end (w/ beefed up carbon layup, as well as custom lighter bb bits and shock mount plates) in my hands within 3 weeks. random: my old front end was repaired and handed off to a nz junior who raced it at ft bill worlds that year. i had several exchanges w/ the guy, and despite his eccentricities, he was a straight up dude. a brainy and talented carbon guru for sure. i truly believe he never intended to screw anyone over, but his business management skills got overwhelmed (in conjunction w/ possible neuroses) and the rest was history. glad i got mine, though. still relevant after all these years; will be keeping it forever.

yay, thread hijack!

Has anyone heard any new info on the V-10s? I've had a medium on order since early January. Not surprised that its not here yet, but it feels like a Christmas Eve that never ends. To say I'm getting anxious would be an understatment. :)

Mark W - We started shipping medium frames in late november. All sizes are almost online now, the XL was the last one. Your specific frame, however, is something that you'd have to work with your shop - and their sales rep at santa cruz could say exactly when it should leave here.
I can tell you there's a big shipment due in on March 25th. That should catch us up from the initial high demand - from here on out the stock levels will be more consistent and back to more usual 1-3 day turnaround.
Sorry for the wait, and thanks for the support.

No need to apologize. Just to be clear, when I said I wasn't surprised it hasn't arrived it wasn't a knock on SC; I know demand is high on those frames, and I'm pretty sure my shop was not first in line to get their order in. Like everyone else, I'm just anxious/stoked to build mine up! Thank you for the update!

So did these show up today? I believe mine should be in that shipment - how long until it gets to Canada eh?

ya know, i'm not privvy to all the comings and goings of trucks and bikes around here, but I do know the XLs showed up last week. They might have had company. If they are here, trust there are people who work here whose jobs are to get them to you before the end of this month.
Its a slippery slope trying to nail down when a rider gets their bike - you really have to talk to the shop, who then talks to the SCB sales rep. You'd be shocked at how many bikes in boxes sit on shelves for days or weeks here because a shop's credit card was declined just as the shipping label was ready to print.

Hey joe, thanks a lot for replying to my initial inquiry! I ordered my frame around the 1st of March and it's not here yet, but my LBS says they just received the invoice early this week which usually means the frame is on it's way from Santa Cruz (?). So we're hopeful it should be here Friday or Monday!

Mine arrived this afternoon. Build marathon starts as soon as my son goes to bed. Thanks for the help Joe!

Sub 30lbs with a coil shock is pretty amazing.
Most of it is in the wheels. I've run single-ply tires with no issues for many years (I know this is sacrilegious to many but it has worked very well for me), and this year I'm trying out Stan's tubeless with the EXO single-ply, so it works out to a 2-3lbs drop over standard 2-ply rubber/tubes. Might be pushing it a little too far, but I thought it was worth trying. Hopefully I'll get to test it out in a few weeks. Super impressed with Stan's so far. Can't believe how easily the tires seated and pressurized with just the rim tape and the sauce.

I haven't figured out what pressure will work (if any) for the tubeless/single-ply combo. You are right though, 30 psi is too low for a single-ply tire in my experience. I typically run 35-40 front and 40-45 rear and that's where I will start with this new setup. I've noticed that a single ply tire with 35 psi seems to deform/comply to terrain a little more than a dual-ply with the same PSI, so when you just speak in terms of PSI, it sounds worse than it actually is. That being said, the grip loss due to the higher PSI is still apparent, but I look at it more like a trade-off because the lighter wheel weight gives noticeable performance gain in momentum changes (accel/brake) and tends to hold speed much more efficiently and generally feel more nimble or playful. Most people roll their eyes at me when I spout this stuff, but I feel like its been a key to success for me for a while now.

Hey Mark W, where abouts in Canada are you? Because I live on vancouver island and I ordered my frame a little over a month ago and it was supposed to get here on Friday like yours, but it's not here yet. I'm just wondering if its just on the mainland and will make its way over on Monday!

I'm in Edmonton. Like you alluded to, yours probably just didn't make the ferry on Friday if was part of the same shipment mine was.
