Todays sighting, a Demo 8 with a TTX shock and a upside down fork. Looked like some factory workers was out on a trip, 4 dudes on Specialized bikes with only TTX shocks and one on this fork. Looks quite refined.

For being a prototype/project nobody has heard or seen anything about before, compared to DVO which displayed a fork with plastic parts that they have been hyping for a while. This is a working unit and look at the crowns.

But i guess the zip ties dont look too good

Will def/ be too noodely without a structurally enhancing carbon fender to keep the flex in check. They obviously have no clue what they are doing.

And Spec's marketing department..... with their jamming of leaked photos down our throats.... aren't they the worst?

Is there actually good money to be made in MTB forks? Just in DH forks, we've seen the number of offerings more than double fairly recently, which is rad, but hopefully they make it/ stay in it for the long run.

The idea of an Ohlins cartridge to drop in forks sounds exciting.

One thing is for sure these Ohlins TTX cartridges are serious expensive,a typical Ohlins TTX cart cost here around 1300

Do carts wear out? Might not be a horrible investment, this day in age to just have a nice cart that can go into cheap fresh fork chassis from season to season.

I ran a set of those Ohlins cartridges for a while on my dirt bike.

They had a really cool sort of "dead" feel on trail junk. The adjusters on them were damn nice too.

The only issue was that they would bottom out really easily on highspeed stuff, like deep whoop sections and g-outs in the desert. Totally linear, no progression. Comes from using a super narrow damper rod and a fairly large volume air compensator. The only options were too beef up the damping, which caused problems elsewhere, or put on spring seats with super constrictive flow ports, which helped only a tiny bit, but rode harsh everywhere. They didn't have any oil lock collars or anything for bottoming either.

Anyway, nicely finished unit, but just needed to be more progressive. I'm also sure glad I didn't pay anything remotely close to retail for them. I think the new owner of them is loving them for more mellow hair scrambles.

So low-speed stuff?

Nope the Ohlins RXF fork retails at €3049/€3350:weee:
To all complaining about Ohlins price. You know a big part of it is market positioning? No one will buy a 3k Euro fork. It will probably be stupid expensive but a CCDB which is basicly an ohlins shock is only a bit more expensive than comparable products. Expect the same. Though the DVO emerald may have a negative influence on the ohlins price.

5th gear wide open is 60mph+, and these whoop sections are commonly 3' deep, and the g-outs are usually way deeper than that, and the S.C.O.R.E. roads are basically hitting a sudden 2' tall ledge you weren't expecting...and you can't slow down for these things. I can say with a high degree of confidence that those events are generating really damn high shaft speeds.

Mild rollers and braking/attitude control it had plenty of damping control.

DVO has been testing the cartridge for their SC fork for a while now in various chassis. the only thing plastic was the knobs

Are they just stating examples of bikes that use 9.5 x 3? Or when you order a 9.5 x 3 TTX, you specify what model frame you have for a specific tune?

Its not the same as the one coming on Demos at least, look at the reservoir.
Locking spring collar, I'm guessing that's a moto setup.

Not sure why you'd want this over the ccdb. Maybe they have some surprises tucked away. Less adjustability with more difficult replacement and service, all in addition to less adjustability. Huh.

There's a reason Ohlins is on $1,000,000 supercars, and not Fox, or Avalanche, or Rock Shox. And that reason is moar shimz.

^this comment got me thinking about fox and their trophy trucks, and started looking into Ohlins truck racing, which led me to this

IIRC 800 $ without spring + 50 for steel spring (at least those were prices for spesh bikes)
