Yeah. Watched it last night. So happy he's got it sorted out.
Have you watched Ben's scottish DH series Round 1 vid from last weekend?
It's one of our long standing tracks all the top UK riders and a few WC legends (eg. Rennie) have raced it in Nationals/SDAs.
it's well worth a watch too.
Yep, did indeed. Nice one.
Winning and putting up a good vid, not bad.

Call me dumb, but I don't even bother with armor (other than knees pads and hydration pack (sometimes)) at our DH spots anymore. Like you said, its horrible when its hot out, especially when you have to stand in that gondola baking in the sun and then pedal across the entire hill.

And on the other hand, lets be honest, our DH trails are not any gnarlier than any of the trails that we ride any other day, on less capable trail bikes. If anything, they are safer with less random crud, trees, hikers, directional trails and are much wider. :busted:
I still run full dainese armor (from 2003 and it still lives) only because I got used to it but I think it's mostly due to the fact that I crash way more often than a regular person

Is the weather always like that there? Any sunshine?
It's been sunny here (East) all week. Nearest DH Tracks are still wet under treecover though.
Ae is about 100miles further west so wetter climate than over here.
Mud is actually loads of fun to ride. You should try it.

I don't know about mud, man. I stay at home when it's raining hard. Conversely, it was 32 celcius this afternoon according to my phone app. That's too hot to go riding for me. I'm getting old.

Very cool for Brook and everything, but for me the big news is Vali Höll that would have placed 9th in elite at her first qualification in juniors. Quite impressive.

What is the qualification cutoff this year? Didn’t they change it from 80 to 60 or something?

Edit: they did. Atwill and Mike Jones are out of the finals it looks like.

Because you all like to follow the rules, here they are:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.5.031 “Protected riders” to the final are:
1. Riders ranked in the top 5 women elite and the top 10 men elite of the final world cup standings of the previous season
2. Riders ranked in the top 5 women elite and the top 10 men elite of the current world cup standings
For the first UCI MTB world cup round of the season, the top 10 women elite and the top 20 men elite of the final world cup standings of the previous season are “protected” for the final.

They must start in the qualifying round but qualify automatically for the final in any case. If the times of the protected riders are not among the 15 best times for women elite or the 60 best times for men elite, they must ride the final in addition to the 15 women elite and 60 men elite already qualified.

4.5.033 The start order for the final is determined as follows:
1. on the basis of the reverse result of the qualifying round or seeding run (women juniors), the fastest rider starting last followed by
2. The riders protected for the final (article 4.5.031): top 5 women elite and the top 10 men elite of the final world cup standings of the previous season (as defined in art. 4.5.031) followed by
3. The riders protected for the final (article 4.5.031): Top 5 women elite and the top 10 men elite of the current world cup standings (as defined in art. 4.5.031)

For the first UCI world cup round of the season, the top 10 women elite and the top 20 men elite of the final world cup standings of the previous season.

Blekni and Brook 1&2 please!

'Muricans starting the year of well (in men's, at least).
Always good to see Luca up there. And freaking kudos to Dak Norton. Guy is really up and coming can't wait to see how this year goes for him.

Is it confirmed Neko is out? Heard he spilled in practice and was on the fence about racing.

Wait what rule is this? That sounds stupid as fuck...
Yeah? What's the rule?

Another dumb rule: The 3min. limit for videos shot at the World Cups. We can hope for more 10min+ Vital Raw and detailled Cathro analysis like we used to get, but we won't get them anymore because of some greedy RedBull execs who wants to limit the non-RedBull-generated content, allegedly.

This is straight from the UCI bag of best tricks to piss off the fans. Bullshit fun-hating new rule is bullshit.
